OOC: This is gonna be fairly short(?) Due to it being like, half the year. Max.

Limestone 24 Y28I've put Rosareven onto being our woodsman and carpenter for the moment, rough beds are better than none after all!
Ferrous Builder quickly began digging into the nearby hill, with Tovarisch CABL and Vuohijumalovich soon joining him, in order to give us some respite from the rains and fogs that permeate these lands. Haven't seen either in a few days so far. Doesn't bode too well... One is bound to come about soon!
*the writing goes into squiggles as if the pen was jerked around from shuddering.* --le I have given myself the tasks of brewing and cooking, and some farming, so that our meals may be blessed by Armok from the get go! Of course, blessing the food before eating is always good, double the blessings, double the strength given!
Sanctume has taken up watching the entrance, to make sure we're remaining guarded nicely, while Jack Frost has been doing nothing but muttering about crossbows. He's gonna have to make his own because we lost all of them several weeks ago. He can make it out of metal once we find some of that.

Limestone 27 Y28Ferrous Builder, Tovarisch CABL, and Vuohijumalovich reported finding damp stone. That's not good. One of those bloody aquifers is right where we're digging down! I order them to make long tunnels in the cardinal directions then dig some stairs down find where it ends.
Journal of High Priest of Armokian Socialism
Sandstone 16 Y28The edge has been found! Thank Armok! I have them begin outlining a portion of the aquifer to see it's shape. But I fear there might be more than one layer to it.
I also have them begin work on digging a small storage room so we can begin pulling in all the stuff from the wagon before that nasty weather kicks in again.

Sandstone 17 Y28I knew it I knew it I knew it! The gods of blight and disease have struck at last! They're trying to stop us with this rotten goo! Well I won't have it! OH ARMOK HEAR OUR PRAYERS! PROTECT US FROM THIS BLIGHT! DRIVE AWAY THE EVIL INFLUENCE!Journal of High Priest of Armokian Socialism
Timber 1 Y28It has been weeks since the goo first fell upon us. It's rained many times since, but nothing, not even the animals have gotten sick! Oh thank you Armok! We shall make a sacrifice soon to help your holy strength cleanse these evil lands!Journal of High Priest of Armokian Socialism
Timber 18 Y28I've just been told that my fears were correct. The aquifer is two layers thick.

Early Winter Y28Due to a lack of happenings, I've added some sketches of the fortress so far.
Above is the entrance with a simple drawbridge raising inward. The room to the bottom is a carpenter's workshop and a small wood stockpile. The chair and table to the right are to make a tiny dining room and meeting area so they stop standing out in the goo. Armok knows how many times I've had to drop what I'm doing and run to the nearest water pool to clean it off while praying madly. The room behind the stairs is a small farm. Enough for seven of us. I plan to turn the storage room into a proper large farm once we've got proper underground dwellings.
There's the finished temporary storage room and a temporary mason's workshop to make a few blocks for building and some doors to add to the dining room. You can see the aquifer probes.
The beginnings of one of what shall be many legendary dining rooms. The stairs in the middle lead to the food and booze storage, all blessed during creation by myself. I think I'll train all cooks and brewers in how to properly bless the food and booze so that we aren't without proper physical spiritual nourishment. I am quite proud of the dining room, mainly because I'm helping smooth it. Soon I'll set about giving a dwarf the task of getting really good with detailing and engraving, then I'll teach them the rites of carving, so that all he makes will have the blessing of Armok! But I'll help smooth every dining room so that I can give second blessings to all the food and booze that enters.
Here is the food storage, kitchen, and still.

Opal 3 Y28Spring is fast approaching, and I've realized that the ordained coins of the year have yet to be made! A vote was sent out about what metal to make the coins out of this year, only four voted and it was silver. An appropriate choice given how pure such a metal looks. I quickly set about ordering a wood burning furnace to be built so we may have charcoal, along with a smelter's so we might get the tetrahedrite smelted down into copper and silver.
Now if only I can get Jack Frost to shut up about his stupid, Armok-damned crossbow and get to work smelting the ores to find silver, and then make those bloody coins.
Journal of High Priest of Armokian Socialism
Obsidian 23 Y28I can't believe that dolt required me swatting him with this book to get started on those coins. Oh Armok, forgive me, Jack Frost, you too. I let my anger get the best of me. Still, enough about the crossbow already.

Granite 15 Y29A new year has come and it's taken me several days of looking through bins and buckets and barrels to find those ordained coins, then several more to until today to tell these boozeheads where to put them. In the dining room! How hard is that?! Finally I've gotten a look at them.
Oh, our poor Armok fearing, worshipping queen. Assassinated by the commies!

Granite 18 Y28I'm annoyed at myself at how long it has taken to get the current state of affairs written down, it's because of those blooming coins for sure.
Here's a view of the surface.
ALL THAT DISGUSTING GOO!!!!Ahem, you can see the entrance in the bottom right.
The temporary store room, not much has changed here, nor will much change for a while until I've got proper underground stuff set up. Hmm...Probably going to have a few layers to the fortress. Farmers, clothiers, carpenters, and the like will be on the upper level which is what's currently being worked on. Then maybe the masons and such in the second layer, and metal smiths and such in the bottom layer near the magma sea... Yes. I like that plan.
More of the first layer of the aquifer has been dug out. I'll have the full thing slowly dug out when the miners have nothing else to be doing.
Same thing with the second layer.
Here is the dining room, fully smoothed out and with the coin wall started wonderfully. Bedrooms will be built off the hallway.
And my lovely kitchen and still and food stockpile!
Before I forget, we need defenses as soon as possible. Perhaps I should make the miners do that first? No. No. The drawbridge will work just fine for now. We have very little of value here at the moment as it is, so we shall not need to worry too much just yet.
What is needed is the purification chamber. A drawbridge, deep pit, serrated disk traps at the bottom. Yes. Cover everything in blood! Glorious blood for to empower Armok to purify these vile lands! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! BONES FOR THE BONE THRONE!Ahemmhrrmhmrmhm. Sorry, I got a little carried away there. Here's the End of Year (EoY) statistics.
