Yeah, I'm pretty sure a knife with a 3'' blade is more of a tool rather than a weapon.

Sort of thing you'd use to open letters and packages rather than fend off an attacker.

In the UK, with some of the strictest weapon laws in the world, a 3" folding knife is completely legal to carry without a reason.
That's how little it's seen as a weapon.

Well unless you are part of that one religion where you have to carry a big knife on you at all times.

Sikhs are allowed to carry kirpans, yeah, but then the reason is 'religious reasons'.

4" is the legal limit in Missouri for a pocketknife (folding one-edged blade item) to be concealed and carry. I carry a 3" dagger (fixed blade stabbing weapon) so hopefully I can hedge the bet and convince a cop it counts under the law.

If your hunting license is measured in herds, yes.

You are just daring someone to provide a link where something like that happens aren't you?

Well Assault Rifles are good for hunting.

You do mean semi-automatic / self-loading rifle, correct? They do make good hunting weapons. No matter what hunting experts claim, often the first shot is not immediately lethal and then its humane, and potentially spares many hours of tracking from the hunter, to be able to shoot that second or even third shot quickly. With a bolt, pump or lever action rifle the wounded animal, be it deer, elk or something smaller, may disappear into the brush before the hunter has loaded and taken aim again.

Semi-autos' gas or blowback system also damps the recoil a lot so they're easier to shoot for youngsters or skinny people, such as me. A muzzle break could do the same job but those have the issue of being loud as hell to people not immediately behind the gun - ie. not good at all for many forms of hunting.
