People can have opinions without having other people pay money for them, you know…
Yeah, but not politicians...
Depends on the politician.
Nah, I think it's fairly universal.

The CR does not include aid for Ukraine, so it does not really make sense for anyone to object on that point.

Also the CR just passed in the Senate. Looks like we've bought ourselves 45 days.
Edit: CR did not pass yet, but they agreed to vote on it without objection, which is a pretty solid indicator that it will pass shortly.

45 days? Guess they want to give us such a nice US Thanksgiving gift…

To clarify: It had ALL the Democrats except 1 (who was opposed to continuing aid to Ukraine, proving that the Russians don't solely have Republicans on their payroll).

The CR does not include aid for Ukraine, so it does not really make sense for anyone to object on that point.

Yeah, I had misread that. The Democrat who voted against the CR did so because of the LACK of aid to Ukraine. My apologies.

McCarthy’s out.

Props to Matt Gaetz for criticizing McCarthy for relying on Democrat votes to pass the CR, and then relying on Democrat votes to succeed in his motion to vacate.

Let's see if I can get away with pointing out that the Democrats criticize McCarthy over the extreme right, while joining with the same extreme right to vote out McCarthy.

And to make sure I get shouted down, let me add that the Democrats claim to put people over politics, yet their united vote to remove McCarthy guarantees that nobody is going to be in charge 44 days from now to authorize further spending to keep the government running. Or am I missing something that would allow the Government to continue without a Speaker?

The only prop Gaetz should get is the one attached to an airplane. Preferably spinning at max RPM. Fuck that piece of shit. A Class I Groomer in the party that is making political hay out of grooming.

The current speaker by law must maintain a list of people to replace him. The person at the top of that list will be in charge until a permanent replacement will be found.

I also might suggest that the extreme right of the Republicans joined with the Democrats, not the other way round. There were a max of 12 extremists, there are over 200 Democrats.

Edit: Patrick McHenry is interim speaker. It’s unknown what powers he actually has, though.

In a marriage, does it truly matter whom asked whom?

But thanks for the info on interim speaker. McCarthy will probably have the last laugh, I wager.

Isn't this inherent to binary yes/no questions? Some will vote thinking someone goes too far, and others for thinking they don't go far enough, with the opposite votes being a measure of thse who are in the middle-ground between those two opnions.

Like, if you broke the votes down to "No, replace them with someone more econmically liberal" and "No, replace them with someone more econmically conservative" etc...well, Yes would 'win' a landslide.

Well, McCarthy does get to join Trump in setting a record.
They were made for each other, I guess.

And of course, like always, the Democrats evade all blame. I can see the appeal of being a Democrat...

Assuming everybody voted,  Gaetz needed 206 votes for his motion to pass. He was relying on the Democrats, not the other way round.

And of course, like always, the Democrats evade all blame. I can see the appeal of being a Democrat...

If the Democrats brought the motion to vacate forward, would it have succeeded?

Doesn't matter. They joined with Gaetz.
