Yeah, ‘cause there aren’t customers for his products anywhere else in the world. Gotta get that green, even if it means kow-towing to tinpot dictators.

Most of his products are for the people, not the Russian government.  Punishing the people for the actions of their leaders is a dangerous rock to throw in a glass house such as America's.

His products are for people who can pay for them. Is he punishing people who can’t afford them by pricing them out? Don’t be silly.

He can take a moral stand without losing money. He’s not responsible for what the Russian government decides to do about him being able to seek his products in Russia.

The other side of the coin, of course, is him punishing Ukrainians for having the audacity to defend their homes and families. Russia hasn’t been particularly discriminatory about where they shoot their missiles.

I don't think we're talking about Starlink usage in Russia anyway, or punishing people for the actions of their leaders? Allowing Starlink usage in Ukraine for strikes on military targets is certainly not that.

It's more of an anti-war stance of trying to avoid taking sides in the conflict.

Avoiding taking sides means not even offering up Starlink (he really needn't have, plenty of capable people didn't even rush in to personally/publicly help in such a meaningful way). Avoiding taking sides means not then telling Ukraine what they should just hand over to Russia (if everyone said everything they thought, in their role of Armchair General, it'd be a much noisier place than it already is).

What this guy does is not "not taking sides" and for sure it's not anti-war. Of course, neither is it taking a side. Very much an Elon Mess of a position. Either 5D chess or 0D tiddlywinks, and darned if I know which.

Indifference is still picking a side
It's more of an anti-war stance of trying to avoid taking sides in the conflict.

As Starver said, if he wants to stay out of it, he can’t be suggesting that Ukraine should capitulate to a foreign aggressor bent on genocide.

As if to prove your point, Musk just said that he is going to charge all X users a subscription fee.
His argument is that this will make it harder for people to mass unleash bots on the platform, when every bot needs a valid credit card.
X's CEO Linda Yaccarino hasn't responded to his remark yet.

Damn man. This is like Bob Iger stepping down as CEO but still calling all the shots whilst leaving Chapek to take the heat. What's the point of having Linda Yaccarino as CEO if she's not calling the shots as CEO

So, what's the over-under on ever getting a balanced-budget amendment?

I'm really tired of this shutdown and ever-increasing debt nonsense.  It's come up way too many times over the course of my moderate lifetime.

Whenever Republicans learn that shutdowns make them look incompetent.

So about half-past never.

Rather than shutting down all the regular low level Federal employees' jobs, they should limit the shutdown to just the House and Senate, with no back pay - then we might see and end to this bs

Government shutdown is something that the minority can leverage for power and influence. And since the minority of American politicians make up roughly half of the vote, they will never get the significant majority that they need to change the rules.

The exact same reason that American politics is mired in myriad archaic rules which make no sense in the modern world. Even though any objective observer can plainly see that the system is broken, so long as one of the parties is benefiting from the dysfunction it will never change.

Depends what you mean by minority. Democrats want a deal to get done, the far-right Freedom Caucus in the GOP won’t support it.
