Basically, both the US and Canada have vaccine requirements for cross-border truckers; the honk-ies up north want Canada to drop their requirements, seemingly not realizing that would just mean a different set of border agents gets to tell them to get fucked.

IDK maybe Im seriously out of the loop, but how do the safety measures even affect them? What is it like booster required to cross state lines? If so why should states do exceptions  about their borderpolicy for mildly qualified work personel?! Yeah they're essential so are health workers, have they not got the message by now?

It doesn't affect anything, these morons are simply taking an opportunity to yell about how much they hate science and anything resembling common decency (with a little dash of racism thrown in).

No surprise. The guy in charge of the CDC is known for his mishandling of AIDS, with the intention of killing off unwanted people. Why would that change now? COVID mostly kills off the poor, old, disabled, and others that the government would be glad to get rid of. Why do you think people here cheered on Cuomo while he was forcing rest homes to take people known to have COVID?

What? When did Ms. Walensky manage to do that?

Googling it gave me no answers. And I feel like I've heard a similar conspiracies about someone other than the CDC using HIV as population control, so I think we are going to need a little more than an article about media understating the death toll of COVID.

They're talking about Fauci.

Don't we have Reagan to thank for that, for overlooking medical recommendations and ignoring the expertise of people like Fauci? I thought for sure that was a Reagan problem.

Fauci got a lot of blame in the 80s from gay activists, who grossly overestimated his role and power in shaping the official response. Even his harshest critics - except the ones who are dead - from that period have acknowledged that they were placing the blame in the wrong place.

The level of institutional indifference to a disease that appeared to only kill "that sort" of people was astounding, and even with the general public it wasn't until contaminated blood started killing lots of straight people that the general populace really started to care. So placing the entire blame on any individual isn't possible. But as much as you can blame any one person, that person is Ronald Reagan.

They're talking about Fauci.
Well, obviously, that was Iduno's intent. But why engage with his vile misconstruing of Fauci's role in the AIDS epidemic, when he doesn't even get the basic facts straight?

Seriously, the amount of horrible shit I still keep seeing thrown at the doctor would kill my faith in humanity, if it was still alive.

It's a little like Bill Gates.  Just because a substantial portion of Americans believe the two of them orchestrated the pandemic doesn't make them saints.  It's also not like Reagan weaponized the AIDS crisis all on his own, lots of people were complicit.  It was a different time or whatever, gays weren't humans yet, genocide was very much in vogue...

It's not like anti-vaxxers care about AIDS except to quietly (or not so quietly) wish it got more of us.  Similarly they don't hate Bill Gates for being a monopolistic shark who held back the computing industry for cash, or for using his "charities" to feed his investments... they hate him for trying to sneak microchips in us for Satan.  It's possible to criticize a crappy person for entirely wrong reasons.

It sure makes it awkward to level actual criticism, though.  Still, if we fired people just for being complicit in genocide, the American government would literally crumble... uh, further.  Fauci seems to have done a decent job with Covid for a classical liberal, considering the anti-liberal pro-virus death cult.  Dunno what you call an anti-liberal death cult like that... "national socialist"?

I was probably into decrying Bill Gates's underhand behaviour before it was cool to do so.

And at least his monopolisation of half[1] the personal computer industury was a real thing. And his company redeemed itself (in my eyes) with Internet Explorer (I was never a fan of paid-for Netscape Navigator, and Mosaic was slightly difficult to port), before it then became yet another foot of clay.

On the whole, I think I'm probably more on the accepting side of ambivalent, these days. No worse then many a 1%er (0.1%er? 0.01%er or even more exclusively defined[2]?), certainly. He did his earning ages ago before we had nanotech injectable blood-bugs that deliver 4G directly to the brain, and now he's doing his philanthropic thing and just helping to cover up the nature of the flat Earth and the hole at the pole where the UFOs come from...

The US ministry of foreign affairs has now also called upon all US citizens living in Belarus to leave the country immediatly, because of 'dramatic acceleration of Russian troop building' in the country.

Well, US is saying that russia could invade within hours

https://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/military/nato-chief-has-cautious-optimism-over-ukraine-crisis-but-some-us-intelligence-sources-say-invasion-is-expected-on-wednesday/news-story/cd73c2a6cde7f85ce6df34bf98df7003

We'll see. US seems less optimistic than NATO and Ukraine both are.

The latest news from today is conflicting. Minister Lavrov has asked Putin for more time for diplomacy. Russian ministry of Defense claims it is retreating some of the troops because the excercise is over. There are no signs yet of that actually happening.
And this afternoon, the Russian parliament (Duma) voted in favour of recognizing the seperatist Republics in the Ukraine, with a majority of 351 in favour, 16 against, and 1 abstinence.
The parliament will now ask Putin to effect the vote. It is unsure if he will, but if he does, it will mean the end of the cease fire treaty, and likely be followed by official deployment of Russian troops (instead of anonymous little green men).

It's a big clusterfuck

Welp. Better get ready for a modern world war.

If the Duma is voting in favor of it, we can no longer be like "Yeah, that Putin!" You basically have to consider the entire Russian state as an aggressor. I'm not sure how "recognizing separatists" somehow gives them the moral or legal justification for an entire country....but we know things like that don't actually matter to Russia.

And I hate the spineless time-seeking, like this is some misunderstanding that just needs time to blow over. This is barely-clothed aggression with official state backing. I don't think you can call this anything else but warmongering at this point.
