Well that's standard. According to this, the mortar fire came first, but it was retaliation for a number of deaths caused by Israeli tanks shelling Gaza on Sunday. The real problem here is that hawks on both sides play this stuff up for their own benefit.

As for Roseanne, i guess nobody's too big to fail.

Roseanne was and is a comic. On seeing the headline I went "Oh no, did Roseanne go alt right?"

No. Turns out she was doing what most comics do. Unfortunately I think she forgot what it means to be a comic with national recognition: the same thing that made you famous can sink you in a heartbeat. I read that joke and thought "Yeah that seems pretty standard for Roseanne." But putting Muslims and monkeys in the same punchline was bound to trigger someone. Plenty of other comics could have made that joke and probably been alright. But most comics haven't been famous for the last 30 years and are trying to revive a nationally syndicated TV show.

I don't think any comic that doesn't already have a racist fanbase could have gotten away with that one. "Terrorist Monkey" isn't quite the worst thing you could call someone of African-American descent, but it is pretty damn close.

The Soros stuff was about as bad however. She tweeted "Chelsea Soros Clinton" then when Chelsea responded to that with dignity, she back-handedly apologized while ranting about how Soros was a Nazi collaborator who sent his fellow jews to concentation camps and stole their wealth. None of that is true, and is of course, nothing to do with Chelsea Clinton.

Also, apparently she made her own self-named character a Trump supporter in the show. She's openly on board with Trump.

I dunno. It's the kind of thing I could see like, Bill Burr saying. I watch a lot of standup on Youtube and some of the standup comic podcasts and stuff....it doesn't seem that beyond the pale for edgy comics.
