"If Obama hadn't interfered with the jobs of the brave men and women on our oil pipelines, and we've got just the best pipeline workers don't we, then it would have been ready on schedule and underbudget to deliver power to our homes and replaced his socialist 'shovel ready' spending programs. Just a terrible President, we're gonna keep feeling the effects of his anti-American policies for years to come. People ask me, they say 'Donald, the Keystone, it goes through Indian land'. What Indian land? There's no, nobody's ever even seen any Indians around the Keystone. They just want us to get a rotten deal, that's all it is. Sad!

That's to coherent to be Trump.
Three-syllable words like "interfered" are probably too much for him to handle.

Here's my attempt to fix it further:

If Obama hadn't been stupid and made terrible deals to get rid of the jobs of the brave men and women on our oil pipelines, and we've got just the best pipeline workers don't we, real salt of the earth people, I invented that phrase by the way, salt of the earth, I don't remember hearing it from anybody else, then I could already have negotiated all the oil right into American small businesses so we could clean off our coal with it, you know, my son Barron, he asked for coal in his stocking this year cause it's so clean and nice and great for the cyber, and our cyber is tippy-top now, and the Russians are still better, but we're the best, but they're using the uranium Hillary Clinton sent them in her emails to do terrible things and we need to pipe it back into America so we can clean it up and make America great again, Putin, you know, I don't know Putin, I never talk to Putin, but I told Putin I said you give us back our uranium and our oil and he said I'd love to 'cause you're such a great negotiator but I need a pipe, and we don't have a pipe because politicans don't know how pipes work, all we have is tubes, a series of tubes, country's going down the tubes, which I invented that phrase too by the way, and we're gonna take those tubes and build a pipe and fill them with oil for American jobs and make America great again. Even Frederick Douglass likes Keystone, he told me so the other day. Even the Indians, there's no, people tell me the Keystone goes through Indian land and I just tell them I'm going to extend our great Wall around the border with India, you know and it just got ten feet higher. That's why we need the Wall, and the Mexicans and the fake news and the Democrats who have done so little for our country. They want us down, I want us up, I want this country great again.

It seems to me that the biggest problem with all of these is that they won't fit into 140 characters.  :P

He both pushed for and blocked it at different times.

He also said that both the advantages and disadvantages were overblown.

Remember, that Twitter is still leaking money like a sieve. The whole twitterverse could in fact implode unless they can pull revenues ahead of costs.

But the good news is that they're only losing $20 million a quarter now, so they're only burning $80 million a year at this rate! It's better than when they were burning through $400 million a year 12 months prior.

Wanna bet that Trump gave Twitter a massive recognition boost? Still, not enough to actually make a profit. And if it is partly due to Trump then it might not be sustainable, and you're going to see a Twitter crash soon.

More generally, I'd say that for all the work they did on it, the Ruskies haven't had great return on investment. Now, this might be because soviet style infowar has always been something that only paid years later, or it might be because the American policy ship turns slowly.

I would literally not be surprised, including the "strategically important asset" part.  It would be consistent with his campaign, which emphasized how he'd communicate directly with the American Public in such ways.  If he does letter Twitter die, I assume he'd start spamming Facebook instead.

The understanding I had of the Russian motivations was more simply to undermine the trust in Western Institutions. It has a powerful domestic element: "Look at those westerners! They think they have such wonderful governments, but look at the proof! Look at them fight each other! We're so better off." It weakens what Putin seems to view as the ideology threatening his hold on power. (And doubly weakens the US as a voice for human rights and anti-Putinism the world over). And obviously he doesn't fear direct reprisal, so he feels safe.

As for more immediate concessions, it'll be extremely interesting in some senses: if we can get through four years of Trump without some sort of major war or selling Ukraine to Russia or something like that, it really will be an impressive argument in favor of checks and balances and the power of both domestic and international institutions: that even this apparent madman ultimately didn't mean that much on the policy level.

it would have been ready on schedule and underbudget to deliver power to our homes and replaced his socialist 'shovel ready' spending programs. Just a terrible President, we're gonna keep feeling the
Unreated, but I feel like I've seen socialist drop off as an insult recently (Antifa has been much more popular, even though socialist and antifa aren't logically equivalent insults). I wonder if Bernie is to be credited for that.

Trump bailing out Twitter was actually the first thing I thought of when I read that. Dude loves Twitter too much.

^this^

Its been a constant irritation to Putin that the international community calls him out on controlling the press and that he gets shit for running an authoritarian government.  Also that people keep saying he doesn't really win elections.  Now the "leader of the free world" says shit that sounds exactly like what Putin does.  It gives him a sort of legitimacy; instead of making his own government look better he's made ours look worse.  And on top of that now people are talking about how Putin had the power to influence a USA election.  Putin's reputation is built on being a macho badass; he'd like to be seen as a scary guy trying to revive the Soviet Union because in that version of events he's powerful.  That's more useful to him than being seen as a "good" or "nice" leader.

Its also why the gay Putin memes are such a sore point for his government.  Putin riding a bear memes make him stronger.  Putin riding a unicorn memes make him weaker.  Gotta keep up appearances.
