Dont under-estimate the psychological impact of being damned if you do, and damned if you dont, day in-- day out.

There is a reason why cops become jaded assholes.  People being upset that they did not do XYZ and did ABC instead, (flip either way, since either side will be equally pissy) to the point of being verbally abusive, and sometimes physically violent (dont underestimate the effects of alcohol on removing inhibitions, especially toward violence).  I have seen this transformation first hand. (Disclosure, Dad was a beat-cop for 26 years in a metro area. His opinion of human behavior is... Not so great..)

Essentially, when you get shit on enough, even if it is just being cussed at all the time, your reserve against being an asshole back, (and eventually, being an asshole FIRST), diminishes with each exposure.  It is one of the reasons why prison guards need to be cycled out, etc.

You dont have to be stupid and blindly trust the police to be nice and polite with them.

ACLU turned to the police footage of one of the KKK member shooting at counter-protesters at Charlottesville (although no one seemed to have been hurt). The guy just walked away at the time, but has now been arrested for "discharging a firearm within 1000 ft of a school".

Like I said, cops become jaded assholes. (which is why they did not arrest the man for unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits. More than likely, the cop on duty was like "Phht, fuckers will know better than to rile up the other side with rocks and sticks when bullets get thrown back. Serve em right.") It does not matter that this is completely wrong thinking for a public servant-- When the public servants no longer really want to serve, because they are jaded from being verbally abused (and worse) all the time, it is not a mystery why their give a fuck goes away.

Like I said, you dont have to be a blindly trusting moron to be polite to the police, even when you are displeased with their service. Being a jackass to the police only contributes to their turning a blind eye to people with guns (as linked.)

Makes you wonder if replacing them with soulless androids would be better...  NAH!

Though I guess an android would give the appearance of being jaded as it wouldn't be programmed to be offended or emotionally upset at being yelled at.

I'm feeling a little cyberpunk tonight I guess as I've been playing Technobabylon (and no, sex isn't involved)

... so... why did you feel like that last clarification was needed, then?

Because some interpretations of Babylon? *shrug*

IMO, the name itself is actually a play on 'technobabble'.

I wonder who decided that logo was a good idea?

I don't see a problem with the logo (other than maybe the black and red being a trigger for Germans), but I do have a problem with it claiming to be the paramilitary wing of the Democratic party. Neither party has, and shouldn't have, paramilitary wings.

Nothing wrong with a homage though.

I don't think they're claiming that for themselves; plenty of groups have been called the "paramilitary wing of [X more acceptable group]" by their detractors, from Antifa to the Klan.

I'm sure there are groups who do adopt the label of being the paramilitary wing of x party, doesn't mean that I don't have a problem with it.

I'm. Pretty sure the anti-fascists in general don't call themselves the paramilitary wing of the democrat party. Mostly because they're not a wing of anything, or a singular entity, or particularly related to the dems or anything else in any number of cases.

Antifa isn't a group, it's a label for a number of 'em. I'd say it's like alt-right as a term, but it's probably closer to evangelical so far as that sort of usage goes.

In any case, that particular flag design makes a fair amount of sense for 'em. They trend far left, and have something of a general inclination towards throwing down against nazis and related ilk. The lenin/stalinist connection is fairly iffy, though. Probably less sketchy so far as that goes than the confed battle flag, heh, least so far as stateside stuff is concerned.

Homage to what became the nationalist socialist German workers party?

Eh? The Communist Party of Germany existed at the same time as NSDAP, and I assure you, they were not friends.

For the record, on the antifa logo, the red flag is for socialism and the black for anarchism. It's supposed to symbolize unity. You know. Against nazis.

It is kinda hard to believe the anti-fascists became the fascists.
