Not to mention how he faked crime charges against his political enemies in city hall. Man, the guy is serious bad news and you really want to punish people like that just so others don't get the idea that they can get away with what he did. Seriously he's the type of person you read about in Solzhenitsyn's accounts of Stalinist-era politburo officers.

Drain the swamp!

So Trump is now attacking his fellow Republicans, and threatening with a shut-down, blaming Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell that they missed the opportunity to raise the government debt ceiling.

If Congress does not come up with money before 1 oktober to pay for the Mexico wall, Trumps threatens with a shut down.

There is nothing. Some people despise the not the truth, but the idea of being wrong. Those people will never change their opinion, because it would mean that their God fearing, 'Evangelical' president is a fraud. That's a blow that some people just aren't ready for.

OMG. Also coming out (WaPo and CNN) that he asked Sessions to drop the prosecution against Arpaio. Sessions told him no. Now I start to see why he has the hate-boner for Sessions.

Apparently, Trump relented after deciding he would just pardon him if the prosecution was successful.

Man with lifetime record of giving little to no shit about rule of law gives little to no shit about rule at law, news at why the bloody hell are we having to report on this shit o'clock.

On the flip side, I guess it could just be someone rolling with something that sounded plausible, not really vetting it too hard. Which is a whole different barrel of humpmonkeys, since it actually does sound plausible that the man with a lifetime record of giving little to no shit about rule of law would continue to give little to no shit about rule of law.

Apparently, the WH isn't denying it. Sarah Sanders basically said, "It's perfectly normal for the President to discuss law enforcement issues and cases of interest with the AG."

Uh, no, Sarah. It's not.

Anarchists head into a peaceful protest to cause violence, police stick thumbs up their asses.

Quote
Berkeley police chief Andrew Greenwood defended how police handled the protest, saying they made a strategic decision to let the anarchists enter to avoid more violence.

Greenwood said "the potential use of force became very problematic" given the thousands of peaceful protesters in the park. Once anarchists arrived, it was clear there would not be dueling protests between left and right so he ordered his officers out of the park and allowed the anarchists to march in.

Well obviously they let them through, how else are they going to beat up those ebil racist misogynist xenophobic homophobic bigot nazis for supporting the current sitting president? They are an inclusive community after all.

With two thousand of their friends at their back, presumably. Protests are volatile.

I'm not saying this was the right call, but let's apply Hanlon's Razor here; the investigation that will (and should) take place in response to the inevitable hue and cry can potentially illuminate more systemic problems with how police deal with riots -- and that's going to be very important going forward. Claiming the police are acting purely out of bias only gets you so far, as the left well knows.

Inclusion != Pacifism.

Let's not go down this road. It's already been argued to death, here and elsewhere.

They did get involved when they started assaulting people though.

It's an odd article, particularly this very contradictory paragraph:

Quote
The group of more than 100 hooded protesters, with shields emblazoned with the words "no hate" and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through police lines, avoiding security checks by officers to take away possible weapons. Then the anarchists blended with a crowd of 2,000 largely peaceful protesters who turned up to demonstrate in a "Rally Against Hate" opposed to a much smaller gathering of right-wing protesters

How can you be quite obvious, what with the black clothing and the hoods and flags and shields, but still be able to blend into the crowd?

Well obviously they let them through, how else are they going to beat up those ebil racist misogynist xenophobic homophobic bigot nazis for supporting the current sitting president? They are an inclusive community after all.

Police supporting the anarchists against the right wingers... something of a new one there. Isn't it usually the other way round?

Maligned by the left for their failures in Charlottesville, maligned by the right for Berkeley. The cops just can't win, can they?

Exactly. No matter what they do someone will be pissed, so the best they can do is follow procedures/orders, which are created by local politicians...

Not so sure I'd call it the best considering what those are often enough, but I'd definitely give easiest.

Still, no matter what they do more people still seem to cheer for them than get pissed, so they keep doing stuff that pisses people off, heh. I'm pretty sure they're still winning quite handily most of the time, since even vitriol doesn't lead to too much in the way of consequences.
