I would probably take it more as a reference to Silicon Valley. While a number of very successful tech companies did have their start there, it also has a reputation these days for absolutely dumb money sinks that waste capital and never go anywhere. This includes, I should add, most modern social media companies including twitter. Juicero is a prime example of what Silicon Valley pumps out these days. That's not to say there's NO value in that area anymore. But it's become the "trendy" place for companies to set up shop. Any company with half a brain and less than 8 figures in capital will likely look elsewhere to set up shop, simply because of the costs involved these days. This has also had the effect of running the locals out of town due to skyrocketing cost of living.

That's not to say I necessarily think it's bad for technology industries to enter an area or for a Silicon Valley-like effect to occur elsewhere. But that's just the perspective that can be taken if you're trying to make it sound like a bad thing.

In fairness to him (weird, I know) he's in a demographically inconvenient race; the consulting class are still trying to figure out how to run a candidate as a Republican without either Trump's base descending on them like a pack of rabid coyotes for insufficiently praising Bigliest Leader or the rest of the electorate turning in disgust from the requisite toadying. Neither extreme will work in Texas, let alone for someone with Cruz's mixed record with Trump ("He ran against Tang Jesus!" "He defended the Shitgibbon-In-Chief!" "Zodiac Killer!") and frankly discomfiting friendliness with Dominionism to muddy the issue.

FUD would be all he had left even if he had a record.

1. US threatens sanctions against the International Criminal Court.

Bolton blasted the ICC as "ineffective, unaccountable," "outright dangerous" and "contrary to American principles," and said the US "would respond against the ICC and its personnel to the extent permitted by US law."
"We will ban its financial system and we will prosecute them in the US criminal system. We will do the same for any company or state that assists an ICC investigation of Americans," said Bolton, a former ambassador to the UN.

Bolton said the US would "take note" of other countries' cooperation with the ICC and "will remember that cooperation when settling US foreign assistance, military assistance, and intelligence sharing levels."

Well, I think one reason they closed the PLO mission is because the Palestinians were trying to get the ICC to investigate israeli war crimes. So maybe.

Obama has been stumping lately, ahead of the midterms. Among the many things he has talked about, he mentioned a few times that Trump has been trying to take credit for the economic trends that started during his presidency.

So today, Sarah Sanders trotted out the WH Economic Advisor, who essentially made the case that the economy was actually worse than it really was under Obama because nobody liked Obama, and the economy is actually better under Trump than it really is because small businesses love Trump. He even brought out a bunch of charts, with one line showing the actual economic trends, and another line showing what he believes people think about the economic trends, just to prove his point.

You remember when Sean Spicer showed us Trump's border wall, which was actually a fence, and not on the border, and approved by Bush then built by Obama, and not intended in any way to affect illegal immigration? I think the White House today may have broken that record for stupidest press conference ever.
