Also, while you call it silly, I think it is the scariest sounding one, mostly because of the "it's made up of many smaller dragons!" bit!
It's not as scary since none of them have breath abilities/elements of their own, unless you roll them up yourself. additionally, I am thinking dragons the size of a cat to dragons the size of large dogs/wolves. unless the dragons in this world are supermassive titans the size of something like a castle in and of themselves, I don't see this being quite so terrifying. cute, probably, but not terrifying.
Well obviously they start small when they hatch, but i'm not sure if you mean every individual is that size, or the total size. The total starting size for a dragon is 30 centimeteres.

I am talking total size. Also, if they are normally a 1 foot (I refuse metrics, I refuse!) at birth, chances are most of the dragons making up this dragon are going to be less than a half a inch at birth.conservation of mass you see.

CHAPTER 1 TURN 0

Everyone:
"Riders, step forward." You all walk towards your caskets forming a line, as the king goes from one end of the line to the other, looking at everyone except Scarlet with intrest. He just looks skeptical at Scarlet, probabaly because she has no outstanding abilities. "Riders, open your caskets." Everyone opens there caskets, revealing beautiful eggs, each one with it's own special markings. "Riders, open your eggs." All of you put your hands on your eggs, and feel intense pain coursing through your entire body, as if your being pulled apart in all directions, and then pushed back inwards again, however the pain quickly resides. When you remove your hands from the eggs and look at your hands, you see the same markings on the egg, now on you hand. Suddenly, the eggs all pop open, and each rider feels... a second presence in their mind, one that feels as if it's looking through their memories, and learning. Each dragon then proceeds to speak in the rider's head, saying their names. Today, is the start of something great.

Ask about assets (Food/lodgings/training availability), what our first task is, and how long we have to be ready.

"Avast, ther ya wee Dragon. Tha name's John, and I guess I'm you're rider."

Polly cocks her head a bit as John talks to her. While the influx of his memories is flowing through her, she occasionally gives a faint imitation of a parrot's squawk.

At first, the sensation was mild. A feeling like someone reading over his shoulder, watching his life as if it was a book with pictures. Then another set of eyes, and another, and the pages began to flip faster as each new mind wanted to learn more and more culminating in a spearing headache, then silence.
After coming to his senses from having thousands of little minds rummaging through his memories, he picks up the egg that holds dakern and asks the king for advice on what he should do to grow his dragons.

Well, I guess the RNG hates me today. Ah well, just means more !!FUN!! By the way, are we doing the 5 actions per turn yet?

"It seems to me we now have a connection with our dragons. Are there any tasks or troubles that would offer our group an opportunity to test our collective abilities?"

Test the mental connection with Ghir and ask about our next task.

No, first 5 turns you post one action, so you can ask questions, play with your dragons, learn about the other people, that sort of thing.

Hmm, considering we control both characters, does Carbo eat coal, or does he not even know due to being so young?

I would assume he would need to try some to find out.

Alright

"Well 'ey there. I'd introduce m'self but I guess you already know who I am."

listen to the others questions and the answers they recieve, while rummaging through his coal bag for a small piece to offer to Carbo, let's find out if coal dragons actually eat the stuff.
