Supposedly, if Westworld is set in the same universe as original movie and the "Futureworld", Romanworld and Medievalworld are totally a thing. There is also this time with Bernard in old rooms where he goes around, sees various stuff like medieval armours and some Roman/Greek stuff (and also the original Man In Black in background) which hints at that both were at least researched if they can be put in before.

Because, since we know that the "Westworld Present" (The MIB time period) is 2052 and that Arnold died ~35 years before, that means the start of the park was around 2017. It also explains all the Radiohead songs and whatnot, Fords just using what music was popular in his time.

He gave that whole big speech about the new act he was starting, and he's always been very talented at planning ahead. I figure he must have set up computers to do certain things on a delay, or in response to certain events, so that he can continue to manipulate things from beyond the grave. He may even have created a host of himself to look after things. There's also the strong implication of other 'Worlds', and who knows what mischief he may have wrought in those; there could be tons of other sentient robots waking up all over the park.
I think we have plenty of material for the coming seasons.

I too caught the out of focus Man In Black over Bernard's shoulder. It was a subtle thing but anyone who has watched the original WW would have instantly recognized the outfit. It was a nice nod to the movie, and kind of makes me hold out belief that at some point they will truly link the two together. The park's stated opening date would put it a little after the events of WW the movie but still...

@Folly I dunno if I agree. The whole conceit of waking up the hosts is that they're individuals with their own plans. Sort of like programming Maeve to go rogue, programming Dolores and the rest of the hosts to try to achieve something specific in the new narrative would defeat their efforts at freedom and sentience. Taking the reins off the hosts with no idea what will happen seems like exactly the kind of narrative Ford was describing. I suppose there could be another long game at play but...Arnold seems the master of the long play, not Ford. Ford didn't have the skills to think or code that far ahead. He's just been maintaining Arnold's work and generating stories. I maintain Ford is a smart guy who is a control freak, and when he realized he was going to lose all his control over the park, he arranged events so that no one can truly predict the narrative it will create.

I did enjoy the look on the Man In Black's face as the nekkid hosts start charging out of the woods. Wonderment, and fear and joy. I expect he'll be back next season, at least for one episode. I imagine him and Teddy and Dolores have some unfinished business. In a way MiB/William is like Ford. He doesn't care about any of the loftier ideals of host sentience. He just wants a real fight and a real challenge and the bloodshed or loss of life doesn't really bother him.

Agreed, the original MIB was a nice touch. As for whether Ford's planned some posthumous mechanisms... Possibly, but probably not the kind that Arnold did. @Nenjin supporting your theory that Ford is just handing the reigns to the hosts after he bought them 30 years of time is the goodbye to Bernard (so no host version of Ford) and most importantly, the name of his new narrative: A leap in the dark
So he's thrusting his hosts off into the dark, uncertain with what will happen, but fingers crossed they'll figure out what to do.

It's funny in a way, it's a reverse prometheus. He gives them darkness instead of fire

Man in Black supposedly survives, he is booked for Season 2 if I'm not mistaken. He trained most of his life for this, after all. Alive human, on the run.
Jimmy is not coming back, understandably... dead human, in a way.
I feel we're going to see Logan, possibly old, one day or other, though. Alive human in the outside world.
Ford has a chance of returning as a host or not, but I'm not sure if he already confirmed or denied that. Dead human, alive not-nescessarily sentient host.
Delores (yes, it's Delores apparently. Dolores was pre-sentience, now it's Delores, HBO CC seem to indicate that) is now Lady in the Wyatt shoes. Sentient host.
Teddy is confused as fuck. Possibly sentient host, or will come sentient thanks to Dolores.
Board is dead or running. Dead humans all, anyway.
Stubbs and Elsie are now human insurgents. Very much alive, yes. Elsie was too good to die.
Maeve is off the tracks angry mum looking for her kid that doesn't even give a fuck. Sentient host, it's basically confirmed her going out of the train was the act of sentience.
Bernard is now the smartest host around. Sentient host.
Clementine and other lobotomized hosts are now deranged mobile turrets. Sort of a zombies.
Angela is the leader of the lobotomized hosts. Proably not sentient, but her narrative is to act like sentient host filled with venegance anyway.
Istice and Hector proably are the murderer duo and Istice is totally going to go after Wyatt. Not sentient, still follow their narratives, in a way.
Abernathy is a fucking wild card.
Lee has his dream of being in charge of Westworld come true. Miserable but quite safe human.
Most of human employees of Westworld are alive, the guys going at Maeves group with guns were hosts. Ford automated most, if not all defenses. This answers the question that someone asked before:

They made a perfect version of that.  There's so many uses here--the security cams?  You could have an untiring AI watching those at all times, with observation skills far exceeding a human's.  You could have an AI that basically spectates the entire park, presumably being linked to all the hosts (birds!), which controls the whole flow of the place!  You could completely unseat Google's monopoly on the search market, with virtually no extra work!

They have that. It's just that it has been hacked by Ford too, so they actually had to bypass the system and see the RAW video from the cameras to see the Armistice.
Sylvester and Felix are proably still alive. Alive, well, possibly hosts.
Lawrence is totally going to trade P90s to inside of park. Not sentient, will follow his narrative of... being Lawrence.
Theresa is still dead.

I really like the idea that all the guards were hosts, who were made useless by Ford.  At the time I had been assuming it was just standard movie logic, where mooks can't hit a damn thing, not even protags who are just standing there.  If they really were hosts who just couldn't retaliate, giving an in-universe explanation, that would be awesome.

I doubt that it's the case though.  They were human ("Freeze all motor functions!?") who just couldn't hit a damn thing.  And, in the next season, robots are gonna still be amazingly perfect shots... until they shoot at important humans, who they won't be able to be hit.  And the robots will still stand unmoving and drop like flies once the important humans fire back. 

See, this could actually be really interesting if the robots are treated realistically--nigh-invincible supersoldiers with lightning reflexes and accuracy, but their production capabilities are highly limited and they're contained.  Humans outnumber them millions-to-one, so you could legitimately have twenty humans be required to take out one robot in a straight fight, with the humans still winning the engagement.  Not to mention airstrikes and drones, but those are narratively boring.

...It occurs to me that they won't actually engage in a war.  The park will be running, business as usual, and all the deaths will just be magically covered up.  It allows the writers to stay within their area of expertise, and just makes more sense;  Dealing with a bunch of investigations into the disappearance of powerful people is easier than dealing with carpet bombing, or with a nuke.

I think it is altogether logical why the guards were all wrecked.
For starters whilst the audience at home knows the hosts were omnicidal, the guards did not. Their current understanding going in was that the hosts were physically incapable of harming humans, and it's doubtful that the upper staff had the necessary competence needed to communicate the very much vital information of this (and which hosts were affected), as the upper management have displayed legendary incompetence thus far, and chief of security has been abducted. It's clear in the after credits scene where instead of killing the immobilized snek tattoo host, they try shutting down all motor functions with the voice commands - unaware that all safeguards have been turned off. Thus they are likely following protocol to capture the hosts, send them off to diagnostics before their destruction as they have done the last 30 years, unaware that the situation has changed dramatically.

The ones that did figure our that the hosts were omnicidal then had to still deal with the hosts being faster, stronger, smarter and more durable. Given the general quality of the company's staff, it is also likely they were hired on their ability to be a company threat (so incompetent) and are not a military unit.

Given how superior each host is compared to a human and how quickly they can be programmed into becoming elite soldiers, humanity would have a hard time fighting such a foe even with its best soldiers. It would have to destroy the hosts from as far aback as possible with artillery, air strikes, land mines, corrosive chemical attacks, digital hacking attacks (hacking being the one advantage humans have over hosts), drone warfare etc.

They could be. Stubbs didin't want to rely too much on hosts and such, but Ford told him that he is going to automate a lot of park security. There was a lock-out in the security room, after all. If they weren't... well, they still proably didin't want to kill the hosts as A) "Freeze all motor functions" works on hosts, they would be suprised if it didin't, and B) "Freeze all motor functions" doesn't work on humans which is why they would be reluctant to kill someone - humans would be the good guys after all, and if they weren't it's still harder to explain a bunch of dead humans.

Maeve does "Freeze all motor functions" on Bernard. Considering that it's proven that all this, until at least the train scene, was a programmed narrative, means that hosts can freeze other hosts. I think there was also this host killed by Clementine during the set-up scene, but I'm not sure if he said "Freeze all motor functions" or not.

They are. In basically every instance you see a host that intends to shoot someone for real, they hit. Hector and Armistice wreak havoc, Dolores (PLAY OF THE GAME AS MCCREE) and Teddy (HE HIT WHOLE CYLINDER ON MIB FROM GALLOP, also PLAY OF THE GAME AS BASTION) get insane shooting skills. Istice cuts her arm off and continues to fight. Walter (MAY HE FOREVER DRINK ALL THE MILK HE WANTS IN ROBOT VALHALLA) got shoot multiple times with severe damage and kept on going. So on, so on. Hosts are scary, but they are still held back by their programming.
This is actually what board wanted from Westworld - a place where they could get Robot-Soldiers, Robot-Servants and Robot-everything for the outside, but that's why Ford kept shutting them off and why the industrial espionage was such a big deal.

No... yes... sort of.
Think of it like Jurrasic Park, which, after all, is based on original ideas for Westworld. The Westworld now became Site B. Hosts are contained. Nuking it will ruin all the precious technology inside. Most hosts will continue to run on their... narratives, sort of, but now deaths will be a big deal. Some hosts are sentient. Some humans are left in park. Some hosts, the lobotomized ones, seem to have one narrative - kill shit.
I'd say that Man In Black will live through getting shot and breaking his arm. This is where his story starts, this is what he wanted. The final DLC has arrived. The game just got real.

Guards as hosts don't work for a couple reasons to me.

1. Maeve seems to know a host from a human almost instinctively. It's probably an abstraction of picking out algorithms in eyelid twitches, respiration patterns, the absence or presence of synthetic sweat, reading robbit code flying out of a host without actually knowing what they're looking at; something. The relish Armistice kills with (the gods are pussies) tells me these were not hosts. Also, why would Ford set up host guards just for them to fail at capturing the rogue hosts? A sense of theatrics? Nah, I think this is just movie shoot out logic. Plus...

2. They actually do hit Armistice at one point. Granted they just wing her and that kind of accuracy is not out of the realm of possibility for hosts. But it'd be a very fine splitting of hairs on the "no kill" rules if it were, the kind of thing a character would have to come out and say "yes I did this" for it to hold water.

Picturing the new WW where you sign a disclaimer understanding you can be killed at any time when you enter the park. With sentient robbits in the mix you basically get a version of The Deadliest Game, where it's not clear who is the hunter and the hunted.
