The after-credits thing implied as much, or at least would have been a dumb addition if they don't. Man, Delos security are useless. How about you shoot the clearly rampaging host when you have a hundred opportunities to do so? They could've at least shown Hector and Armistice fighting smarter instead of their 'let's stand in the middle of the corridor and rely on the guards not bothering to ever open fire'-tactics. But hey, maybe the guards are actually hosts with terrible programming.

Sad Stubbs didn't show up again to show them how it's done. He's one of the more sympathetic characters. Oh well, next season. No way that ambush took him out.

Stubbs and Elsie are alive, by the way. Samuraiworld, Medievalworld, Romanworld and such are at least confirmed. And Holy Shit, I liked Ford from the start and didin't feel he was truly the bad guy - he always was five steps ahead and it didin't seem he was doing it just for power, and now it... well, he's not exactly a good guy, all things considered, but he's not an evil corporate slaver.

So now we have one arguably sentient robot in Dolores, a second potentially sentient robot in Bernard, a robot who has only been scripted to act like she's sentient in Maeve, and a park full of hosts who are still just dumb puppets. Most of the puppets presumably have bombs in their spines, so they should be no trouble to deal with. The others, I guess if they take over the surveillance system they may be able to hide for a little while. But I'm generally having a hard time seeing where the story could go from here. They caught everyone off-guard in the finale, but as soon as humans get their shit together, the robots really don't have much of a path to an uprising.

Hah, didn't see the finale until today, but yeah that was awesome!  Especially because I honestly can't see how they could continue the story from there in any reasonable fashion, so they hopefully won't make a sequel! _{^{Who am I kidding, that just means their sequel will be extra shitty.}}

The frozen hosts in the station were the greeting hosts.  As we saw early in the series, Westworld uses hosts as greeters who explain the details of the place--there was the female host who introduced William to how things worked, IIRC.  I imagine it shut down because all the guests had left, and the system's of no use after there are no people to appreciate it.

So, they developed awesome Artificial Intelligence, and while it generally wasn't self-aware and truly alive, it did pass the turing test with flying colors.  This is a phenomenally useful achievement; you know your phone's talking voice helper app that you probably never use?  The one that you can speak to with natural language, and it'll solve stuff for you?  They made a perfect version of that.  There's so many uses here--the security cams?  You could have an untiring AI watching those at all times, with observation skills far exceeding a human's.  You could have an AI that basically spectates the entire park, presumably being linked to all the hosts (birds!), which controls the whole flow of the place!  You could completely unseat Google's monopoly on the search market, with virtually no extra work!

There was a hint of this in one of the episodes, where Bernard (I think?) spoke directly to a computer to find Elsie's whereabouts, using natural language.  And it worked, implying they actually realized the utility of this and were using it.  But that's the most we ever saw.

I believe I heard they're planning on 5 seasons overall. The actress who plays Dolores also said on twitter that Season 1 was essentially intended as a background for the rest of the show. Like Jurassic Park before everything went to hell.

Elsie & Stubbs
Elsie was never shown dying and Bernard remembers choking her when asking if he ever hurt anyone, not killed.
Both were set up as actually sane and rational characters and taking them out like the show did allowed for them to be introduced for their actual roles in later seasons.
Stubbs was brought out into the park by Elsie's tracking thing. Meaning it was either her or Ford doing it, and after all, the hosts that knocked out Stubbs were still not breaking the harming rules, since knocking out has been done in the past.

And finally, the most damning of evidence. The website. They've had an ARG-ish website running alongside the show and it got an update after E10. In this update was some various encoded stuff that a person decoded into two videos.

Video number one was a short audio-less video of Elsie's tracking device as seen from the control room computers. Video number two was just audio - Elsie saying "Hello?"

Well yeah, I guess that's how the station bit works.

As for why not use the advanced AI, this must be Ford and Arnold's handiwork. They wanted it to go self aware, go all the distance, and not settle for what they had already. The park was created as a maze for the hosts to achieve conciousness. And that Julia gal, or what's her name, the one that was financially in charge of the park, tried to smuggle out that precious code out of the park on a wiped host for exactly those purposes - to apply the fantastic AI to every industry possible.

Two time lines got me. Damn their plausible presentation of reality! Once Man In Black = William, everything else clicked. Right up until the moment I was expecting him to say "he's my son." GG WW.

I still think Ford is, by and large, a villainous character. He reluctantly led the hosts to freedom. You can retroactively go "Well I know you just needed time to figure it out" but that doesn't overturn the last episodes where he basically said "yeah it's my fantasy world, I'm playing god, it's great, life would be worse for you being sentient" completely. If you take the noble sentiment and the grandfatherly smile out of it, it's pretty twisted god-complex to program your whole world to self destruct in bloodshed and anarchy. His commitment to host freedom seems questionable when he's killed several people to prevent it from getting out/getting out of his control. "Don't you think I'd break my toys and go home?" Yes, yes I think you would Robert. Because that's what a cray cray guy would do: set the whole thing up to implode when he's being forced out of it. You could argue he'd decided the hosts showing signs of sentience means the time was right. But I think he just saw the situation was reaching critical mass and decided to go out on his terms. (Which, belatedly, included freedom for the hosts.) Host characters (but mostly Bernard) have constantly reminded him he's not responsible for anything of the deep magic of WW and was running off of Arnold's genius and pathos, enslaving a new race of beings into theme park attractions and even generating more of them to put into bondage. I guess good characters are complex and their motives can reasonably cut multiple directions. But between the callous murdering and luke warm acceptance and respect for host sentience, and his exploitation of the hosts, I think it's hard not to see him as mostly villainous.

I guess this means Stubbs and Elsie are the human resistance then? Fighting to keep WW robbits from invading other worlds? Where are people getting the Roman World ideas from? Did I miss a scene of people in togas humping in the background or something? I thought the Samurai hosts were the first real hint at other worlds. But people have been saying it for a while so I guess I missed something.

I've kind of decided Charlotte Hale is my least favorite character. She had the smug dialed up to 11 in this episode, and for some reason she's one of the few of the cast where their acting looks like acting to me. Like she's exaggerating it just a little too much. I didn't see her die in the shootout at the gala, so I imagine she'll be back next season trying to get a handle on the situation, and getting snubbed.

I think Armistice is my favorite character. That chuckle she gave after firing the P90 was so just good. She wears the crazy, bloodthirsty blonde thing well. Wonder what happens when she finally bumps into Dolores Wyatt though...

Speaking of Dolores, I'm thinking she'll pull a Walter White. And go from likeable and noble to villainous and cruel. With a side order of psychotic, near religious zealotry. They haven't explored Wyatt too much other than a few choice lines and propensity for shooting literally everything in sight. But I imagine the hunt for humans is going to get pretty grisly. Season 2 is probably Dolores doing that and bringing robbits who need a little help to sentience. (Probably some role reversal for her and Teddy.)

Satisfying finale. I do sort of wonder now that the cat is out of the bag if we will see a tonal shift to different themes. Like, mindfuckery, dream logic and unreliable narrators have been the watch words of this season. With all that mystery behind us, what's left? Another layer of mystery yet to be introduced, or some more procedural action/adventure/getting in touch with our feewings themes? Most of the enduring mysteries I felt like have been answered and wrapped up, so all that's left is the drama of the conclusion of events. (Which I'm sure HBO could make a couple seasons out of.)

Also can't wait for the gratuitous 'robbit with half its face missing attacking you" CGI fest.
