Cause im the only one talking about drugs right? You know that u/ wierd is talking about drugs. Im trying to help man.
If you really wanted a dream, you would have already had one or atleast tried.
I have one every night.
It takes effort, something you havnt seem to shown,
We have given you the non drug ways, so do it.
The only other easy way is drugs.
Do the work to get results.
Im sure youve had a dream it just probably went to your subconsious.
If you do the journal and think about remembering the dream before you fall asleep and never get results after weeks of trying. Go see a specialist cause we cant really help anymore than we have.

Sorry I over stepped the line but I want to help you

True, under the strict sense.  The option I suggested is something a pea sized gland in your brain makes naturally, while yours is not a part of normal sleep.

He says he wants neither, so we should respect that.

When you wake up, stay in bed for a minute and try to remember. Even if nothing comes to you at first. I've found that the simple act of staying there and thinking about it can jog your memory, at least if you do it right after waking up.

If you do remember something, take yourself through it, beginning to end. Then write it down before you get distracted by something else. Both of those things can help to solidify the memory, and writing (even if it's just a bulleted list of major stuff) creates a sort of permenant memory in and of itself.

Actively thinking about dreams and such may have helped for me, but I did it at the same time as the dream journal stuff, so it's hard to tell whether it would have much of an effect on its own. Think about remembering your dreams for a moment before going to bed, maybe. It certainly can't hurt.

The above can help if you do them every now and then, but I've found that the best results come when I can go through them each morning. Gets you in the habit, I guess.

@TBF: I've been having trouble remembering most of my dreams lately, but back when I tried to get better at it something I found helped was having a dream diary. And by that, I mean having the book and a pen right next to you as you sleep, so that as soon as you wake up you can just grab them and start writing down whatever you remember.

Even if it's just a vague fragment of basically nothing, note it down. Try and train yourself to start remembering more.
It usually works, if you have the willpower to keep it up for a while. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of factors in remembering dreams, but it should help.

What kind of motivation? I find it works best not to force it. Sometimes you have to take a break.

It's cliché, but goal-setting works decently well, too. Pick a target and work on hitting it. Make it something you can hit.

Last minute panic.

I'm still looking for some for my abandoned D&D campaign ;_;

Without context, I'll moreso PTW here with the note that motivation is 'innate' and not really some kind of thing you 'lose' or 'gain'. :P If you mean the case where you may feel low in motivation (eg Not motivated at all), it may partly have to do with your thoughts on the matter along with how connected or in control you may think you are in relation to whatever you're interacting with.

...This is a bit of a late reply, heh, but my thread my rules and I have to say, Tiruin is being scarily accurate again.  Or professionally accurate.  Or both.

The problem is, I don't have much control at all.  So...What on earth could I possibly do here?

The problem is, [...] control[...]
That may be a good place to start :)
You've many, myriad sources of influencing that--it's more dependent on context per se, and that's knowing yourself. Engaging/being connected with, or belonging into some task alongside connecting your thoughts to what that motivation is tied to, helps out too.

Keep that question in mind about motivation or controlling it, too :P Ask folks there or otherwise--don't let us be your only place TO ask these things!

Despite popular condescension, the right sub-Reddit community can open you up to more like-minded people going through similar struggles as you do, or a lot more helpful advices. /r/DecidingToBeBetter, /r/KindVoice to name a few, or any /r/[insert hobby name here].

Books are also a good source and you don't have to read the whole thing. Seek the ones that sound like it might have a chapter or a few pages that answer your questions.

However before you do all that, you have to know what questions you have first, which means knowing yourself, as Tiruin said. Fumbling through sources that don't really address your concerns will add more burden to you than lifting it.

So how do I do that?

Because I'm pretty sure I really don't know myself too well at all.

You won't know everything about yourself, but one thing you will repeat over and over, is to be honest about your feelings and thinking as soon as they arise. Acknowledge whatever comes to your mind and ask yourself the really tough questions of where they come from and why.
