Name: Afan Korolev
Species: Undead Russian Cosmonaut
Appearance: Clad in a primitive space suit, embroidered with a faded hammer and sickle, helmet cracked and shattered on the left side. Empty eye sockets stare out from bleached skeleton. Strapped onto his back is a maneuvering jetpack, with one propellant tank burst. If one draws near, you might hear scratchy patriotic songs of a bygone era play from his helmet radio.
Biography: Once, Afan lived. He studied through his education, staring at the skies above. Eventually, he had studied enough to be accepted into the space agency, and he flew into the void upon chemical rockets. Afan had visited space many times by his third decade, and had been chosen to be the first to float outside of his spacecraft. And he did. The void, stars shining like never before! Then something struck his craft, breaching a pressurized oxygen tank. From there, he remembers many things. His tether snapping. The frantic voices of mission control. And the spiderweb of cracks along Afan's helmet. Then nothing. His corpse drifted for many years, floating in zero gee. Eventually, a micrometeorite hit a tank of propellant, the leaking gas providing just enough thrust to propel the body into the interstellar void. For many years once more, his corpse was bathed in cosmic radiation, until one 'day', when nonexistant eyes began to see. Nerveless bones began to feel. And an empty skull began to think. 'Afan', he thought. Immortal. Then, despite the soundless void, a mouth began to chuckle. It soon grew into a laugh. Then, just as quickly, a haunting cackle filled the void.
Additional notes: Afan is undead, and will be difficult to hurt in any meaningful way. He is also absoutely insane, due to spending centuries in space with only propaganda music. As a result of being stuck in a bulky softsuit, he has difficulties with fine manipulation and weilding weapons.

Well, it's not like it's too hard to set things on autopilot and stand by. For my character that is.

The cockpit/bridge would get pretty messy though.
