The governor of planet Karlamarx VII reports sighting of a Megatron vessel! He had kept both the scavengers and licensed adventurer-archeologists at bay till he learns what the Throne wishes to do with this spaceship.

From your studies you know that Megatron vessels are ark-vessels of peoples who fled their homeworld when humans lived only on Earth when it wasn't yet a wasteland, and the Megatrons themselves seem to have all died when humans were only launching probes and satellites. Megatronic vessels are often dangerous, equipped with self-defense mechanisms and contaminated with highly virulent pathogens that scientists speculate were native to Megatron bodies.

A) Have it destroyed, scrap and artifacts aren't worth plague or accidental death.
B) Plunder it and claim all the goodies for the Empire!
C) Send an investigation team and then open the vessel for scavengers and the like.

B), if we're going to try and get something good out of the ruins, we sure as hell aren't going to risk some scavenging yob getting a space plague that wipes out the planet. Get Starfleet on this, employ proper quarantine procedures, give the planetary government a kickback for their trouble.

I'm erring on the side of taking all of it ourselves simply because there's no way we can ensure safety with just an investigation team.

I'm with Harry on this one, we shouldn't allow the risk on a plague just to appease the scavengers' greed.
I'd then follow it up with a nice speech about how our concerns are public safety, and spread some wealth about (making it somewhat like C, but keeping all the juicy technology for ourselves).
