Look through the darkness, for things other than the world tree.

Didn't we get the pilot? Can't we scan his brain?
If we did, +1, but I think they either got scrambled by the tractor beam or got blown out into space.
This is a normal discussion, folks.

Look for food to nourish the young that will hatch, or to feed the tree that houses them.

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

They decide that they didn't get paid enough for this..

The spider goes walking through the darkness, searching as always for something to fill its bottomless hunger. It brings a small branch of the world tree with it.
The spider finds nothing within the darkness, but when it reaches the edge, it sees another world, a bright one, drifting past through the strange sea.

The world-tree cutting roots itself at the very edge of the darkness.

The spider takes a chunk of darkness to use as a bridge. This is the first time in memory that the darkness has struck into the strangeness.
On the way across, the spider eats some more of the strangeness. This is beginning to drown out the light in it.

The spider arrives safely at the bright world. There it is challenged by a snake of pure light.
"What are you? You are strange but light. The light may be embraced, but the strangeness rejected. And I sense no honour in you."

The spider can feel its strangeness being pushed away by reality, and it is difficult to hold a solid form.

Embrace light so we can assume a more stable form, trick the snake into thinking we are its friend.

Whether we actually is yet to be determined.
