Demivh weighed his choices. The History and Literature clubs seemed the most suited towards his upbringing, and were hobbies of his in Kestral, but a part of him wanted for him to try the mechanic's club. She probably didn't lose her arm in the club, right?

...

Caution won in the end, and Demivh approached the History club pavilion, noticing a man in what appears to be shepherds garb also showing interest in the club.

Ask about what membership in the history club would involve.

(5) You manage to struggle free of the guards and sprint to a safe distance before tossing a knife at one! (5 + 1 = 6) The throwing knife zips through the air, slitting a guard's throat! It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

"Excuse me, but what does this club, well, do?", Nix asks the man at the History Club pavilion.

The legionaire-errant responds with a boast.
"Ha! You speak of a society devoted to the chronicling of society itself. We Historians look toward the future by recording the past, immortalizing the advances made by society, whilst allowing future generations to learn from the mistakes of the past."
He takes in another deep breath. "We also do battle re-enactments, if you're into that sort of thing. Counts as CS credits if we get enough spectators, and it's way more intense than what those Dueling wimps have to offer!"

((I'm getting feeling those letters you keep showing us might be relevant to the game.))

Dan stops at the Arcanist's Guild's stand to appraise the golem's quality. While the guild doesn't interest him in particular, he's curious to see designs of automatons other than undead.
A silver-haired youth in a crazily bepocketed robe makes a beeline for the Arcanist's Guild.

"Hello."

(The following is addressed at Kyron, as Dan watches)

Ah, a construct. Though rumors abound, seeing one with your own eyes is fascinating, to say the least. It moves! It can work fine instruments with its fingers! It even talks! The craftsmanship seems lacking, however. Unlike the masterwork sculptures scattered across campus, this one is blocky, with a lot of convex shapes roughly mirrorring the shape of cracked rock pieces fused together with the faces sanded off.

"Hi! Something I can help you with?" asks the voice of a teenaged girl. It echoes several times out of the stone body, and the eyes seem to glow brighter as they gaze into yours.

"We've got a little demo back here, it's a press we use for making charms like the one powering this construct." On the back desk there is a screw-press prepped with a stack of papers, with vials of green ink and a stack of green gemstones beside it.

"What indeed!" Murble replies to the quartermaster, trying to recall if they've met. "I uh, was rather hoping I could acquire my uniform sooner rather than later, if you have it. If not I'll just, ah, take in the sights like this. Nice thing about sackcloth, you don't have to worry about getting it wet!"

"And thank you for the save," she whispers to her other old new friend. "Murble Moobroot, it's a long story. Well not long, my sisters stole my nice clothes because I wouldn't be needing them here."
"Your sisters? They sound like an unruly bunch. My name is Raioyris. We'll meet soon again." Raioyris trails off with the hope of committing himself to both the Arcanists' Club and the Questing Club.

(Addressed to Raioyris)

After observing the Arcanist's above, you confront the Questers: a group of students whose sole purpose seems to be helping other students rid themselves of the tyranny of the Community Service Credit requirement.

"To finish their degrees," starts the girl with the bow, who doesn't look like she can draw the weapon properly. "Students have to achieve three HUNDRED points toward communiy service credits. Three hundred. Most of us don't have time to find that kind of experience, so we've decided to crowdsource Adventuring using a revolutionary new business model."

"Indeed," continues the two-handed sword wearer, who tries to draw the sword from its holster (unsuccessfully). He says, "Donations have exceeded record highs. We have the latest equipment from across Hyperborea."

"You two didn't follow your scripts," the staff-wielder snarls. "Anyway, the concept his really simple: A client gives us a quest, then we go asking for gear to help us solve the problem. Sometimes we gotta slay 20 bears. Other times we have to go rescue Princess Somewhither from some island in the Sea of Transquility. Either way, it's more reliable to join us than hitting up the nearest inn. And you'll need the credits to graduate."

Thalstav approaches the stalls, eyeing the mechanic and blacksmith. They seemed the best clubs for making money, yet neither seemed safe. He promptly decided he'd rather get a few burns than lose an arm.

Approach the blacksmith. Ask about how dangerous it is, about how well it prepares club members for a prosperous career, and how well it combines with earth magic.

"Danger?" replies the spokeman with his laid-back, curious tone. "It's all in the eye of the beholder. I've just handled some tricky projects in the past, that's all. And I've got a bit of a shaky hand so I tend to smash my own hand a lot. But through hard work and determination, anyone can be a good blacksmith. Just ask, well, me."

The Forge turns out a healthy sum each year building orders from clients both inside and outside the school. Rather than proofs-of-concepts and experimental devices, the Forge usually puts out traditional items such as weapons and armor. They take in both skilled and unskilled smiths, though one presumes the lesser-skilled end up with auxiliary roles like being the spokesperson here.

Christine, upon being asked if she was also making a last-minute deposit, shakes her head.
"No, that's all been done already. I'll probably be heading back up the university now."

Head to the University gates and try to get in

"Technique is fine but craftsmanship really sucks. Put some effort on appearances." Dan sighs. He surveys his surroundings superficially. "I hope this isn't all the clubs, because alternative would be rather bleak."

Talk to the mechanic next, and see what that club is about. Ask how dangerous the work is, and how well it fulfills service credits. Then ask if there are any other good ways to get credits without risking my life.

You head on up through the gates, and notice some of the school's clubs trying to make an impression.

"Registering for a club before registering for classes? That takes motivation. But hey, I'm not here to stop you."

"Technique is fine but craftsmanship really sucks. Put some effort on appearances." Dan sighs. He surveys his surroundings superficially. "I hope this isn't all the clubs, because alternative would be rather bleak."

"I didn't build this one. Is it really that bad?" asks the voice. "You think you could do better?"

"The past is the foundation for which the future is built upon. Also, battle reenactments! Those were always amazing back in Kestral!'"

Demivh himself never helped in such reenactments himself due to his youth, but they were still grand events in the duchy that got the full backing of both the Duke and his sons.

Take an application to save for later, then browse the Literature club.

"An... ehm... application? I'm not sure if you understand, but... printing is expensive. Just come and meet us at the Clarity Library in the afternoon. We should be there."

"Thank you.  Now before I forget, where does one register for classes?"

"You seem to be new to this. What about you go get your uniform taken care of? Usually you talk to your professors and they handle registration. But I don't know if it's different this time. Last year they seemed to be changing up the procedures, making things less formal."

"I understand."  Nix bows for the final time ( he really should rein it in, he felt, but habit's a hard thing to break ).

Search for professors.

"Right, forgot about that. Thank you, I should get the other pre-class obligations sorted out." I should find where the dorms are, since uniforms won't be that useful without a place to put them.

Search around for the dorms. Ask directions if needed.
