I am ready.
Good.
Uh.
Can I have each of my squads dropped off in separate locations, or are they all gonna start off in one spot?
...
Yeah, there isn't really much for me to -
Oh! That Interrogative Telepathy thing I see on my tech list. What's that? Does it mean I can aggressively mindprobe people?
"Yeah I'm ready and stuff. Should be fun."
Good.
Every body starts from same spot.
It's WHW-ASE. You can copy information from brains of others if you are aware of their presence.
Ready
Ok.
would it be possible to extend the terrorizes effect using radio towers like antenna? If so if there are radio towers nearby in my view then can you include that in the description of my surroundings.
No. Terrorizer isn't based on electromagnetic radiation, but on moving magnetic fields which generate electric impulses in electrically sensitive things, such as neurons. Probably messes with other electronics too.
Good. Let's get this party started.
Getting supersoldiers sporting highly advanced and dangerous weaponry out of the country is not easy job even for big and powerful organization like the Company, so it's good thing they got procedures and preparations all ready. It takes almost two days to take you to your first stop where they have set up a big metal cargo container for you and your equipment. There's cushioned crates for everything because landing will be undoubtly rough. People here explain that well after midnight they will organize an airstrike to give transport helicopters opportunity to get you in without being shot down. This means you have some time to ensure your shit is packed nicely so you can easily grab them when it is time to go shooting.
Talking about enviroment, it's pretty warm here. Those of you who have good temperature measurement systems would say it's around 30°C. Sun is shining from cloudless sky in quite high angle. Clearly some sort of desert. Everything is dry as hell and wind constantly rises small dust vortexes around.
You who can read minds would find out that this place is about ten kilometers north from the city you will be dropped to. Behind a small mountain. This place is in Iraq, Nineweh Province, and the target city is Tal Afar, currently under control of ISIS. Perfectly acceptable testing ground.
Around 3 AM you are ushered into the container and its doors are shut. Locks are thankfully inside so you shouldn't have problems getting out unless doors get jammed somehow. In a few moments you feel increased strain on your muscles/engines/whatever you use to move as helicopter takes off ungently. It doesn't take long before the sounds of war make themselves known over constant noise helicopter rotors make. Explosions. Heavy machinegun fire. Probably something like gatling-type autocannon.
You hear few bangs from corner of your pitch black container. Using light from your holodrones and freely swiveling eyes you quickly spot few new dents in floor. Seems like you are getting some fire. But the ride remains relatively smooth regardless and you have nothing to complain about landing. Despite of your attempts you do not see through layer of steel, even if you try to peek through non-existants gaps in doors.
After patiently waiting few minutes the signal finally comes and you open the doors. The container is right in middle of not very wide road. Pale two story buildings are filling both sides of the road without a single gap between. Very tightly packed area, you would say. Poor too.
About 40 meters ahead there's an alley leading in between buildings on right. On left little further you see a familiar rooftop of a mosque. Not very large one, though. It's tallest place you can see right off the bat.
From one window on left you see a worried beardy face of middleaged man peering out. He's staring at the container, not you, as you realize when you zoom on his eyes. Looks like your camo cloak is working already fine. Just keep that hood on your face and you'll be fine.
Your landing is smooth, only small jolt informs you that you have landed. You locate fair number of minds around you, including those of pilots. They leave in hurry, but you make out that they leave in opposite direction of what your container is pointing to.
As soon as signal comes the five of you push container doors open and stare into darkness. Your only lights are fire in distance and stars. You wonder if nightvision was really that hard to add. Or maybe Ozarck simply forgot it. Eh, gotta make out with what you have. It's not like anyone can sneak on you.
It appears you are in a small depression surroinded by buildings. Right ahead is a wall of terraced four story building, roughly 70 meters wide. Or maybe it's just a two story building following shape of ground. There's number of people in there, mainly on top floor. On your right is much smaller empty building and small path in between leading up to what is probably a road. On its right side is wider opening leading up to same road.
On your left and actually little behind is a gravel road you could use too. It comes from direction where pilots escaped and near your container turns to left. Or right. Depending on which direction you are looking it from. Regardless, it offers alternative way around the larger house by going in opposite direction than the other way. Unless you want to walk into building or scale it to rooftops.
Your landing is smooth, guess nobody bothered to shoot your ride. A minute before signal to start comes you start hearing sounds. Car engine. Lights are shining from tiny gaps. Human voices. Males. Angry. Worried. Soon shadow passes over doors somebody tries to open the container but naturally fails.
Kinda sucks to be found before you can exit, but it's not like you are really in any trouble here. Killing few mundane soldiers should be easy for eight of you.
Signal to start comes.
Your landing is really rough. It sounds like the helicopter got hit and rapidly lost its lift. The container lands hard in very uncomfortable angle sending your equipment crates bouncing around. It makes you very worried if those vials full of dangerous biological weapons are still intact. You check them all and breathe in relief. Looks like they are fine. Great. Now you have to wait for signal and listen how something is burning near the container. While waiting you check the container door and are equally relieved to see it should still open fine, even if it took some beating.
As soon as signal comes you kick push door open and take stock of your surroundings. It turns out you are in rather unfortunately open area. Right next to what appears to be one of the major roads around here. After getting through disorienting effects of the metal container you can get sense of directions. The road is on north. It leads to NEE into a big roundabout. On south is burning transport helicopter right next to only building on this side of the road. Well, there's more densely packed two story buildings on east, but this one building is only one in rather large open plot.
Oh, the helicopter pilot appears to be alive. You can see him crawling out of the burning wreck. He's probably badly wounded. And is that a car you see coming from east?
This sucks. You can easily tell which way is north, but you have no idea which direction you should be going. Clearly the landing didn't go as planned. And there's already people coming to see what's burning. Or at least one car's worth of people. Can't make out what kind of car it is, too dark and its headlights are too bright.
And another big fire in further south, much like your burning helicopter.
((You have gift of prophecy, spaz.))
Your container gets few new ventilation holes in floor and ceiling. Probably explains why the flight suddenly becomes very unstable. All kinds of senses tell you that this is going rather badly. Moments later you experience freefall and two seconds later it ends very suddenly when the container hits ground. You weren't exactly built for long falls, which means sudden impact detonates few bullets stored in your legs. Those bullets in turn ricochet in their very confined space causing more bullets going off and a chain reaction is ready. Your external armor doesn't give a shit about 900 assault rifle bullets plinks against it, but same cannot be said about the frame and motive systems exposed to large amount of shrapnel and explosive gas. Your ankles give in and break. Makes you question why did you want so much explosives INSIDE your protective armor.
Well, say goodbye to your feets. Can't use them anymore. On the bright side its great you can't feel pain anymore and the PIKE mini missiles didn't go off. You tear your feets off and stand on your stumps. It works, but it's bit hard to keep balance now. It's like walking on peglegs. Works better if you are not in hurry or if you have support. With that done you check your other assets for damage. Various rifles seem to be fine. Grenades still haven't exploded so they are fine too. Probably. Mortar had high speed date with some of your flying giant dicks, so that's useless as well as half of your dicks, reducing total number of your phallic symbols to three: your primary particle cannon and two flying cannons. Otherwise everything is fine. In relative terms.
Right, one funny thing about those particle cannon drones. Their reactors are leaking some liquid and it's eating through steel floor of the container with considerable ease. Considering you have TWO of those reactors right next to your brains, it makes you REALLY worried. I mean you are safe, Meshanblov took backup of your brain right before being sent to this journey, so you won't die even if you die. But still, better take care nothing breaks your personal reactors... That would be really bad.
While you are checking out all this the signal to start combat test comes. The door is stuck so you have to punch if few times before it gives up and swings open with mighty bang. Alright then, let's check where we are, shall we? Hmm, right in three road intersection. The biggest road goes directly northeast, but soon forks in two with one going slightly more northward. Another road goes south and seems to turn to west behind that burning building with burning wreck of helicopter. Third road leads to east towards greenery. All roads are surrounded by two-story buildings which all share support walls with each other. Very poor looking area.
Speaking about poors, you hear screaming coming from the burning wreck. Someone is screaming from top of their lungs for help in english. Probably the helicopter pilot. You hear other screaming too from the same building. These ones are more highpitched ones. Almost like children crying. This sucks. And there's a car speeding down from that northern road. Looks like one of those Toyotas ISIS terrorists like using so much.
And another fire in north, not very far. Great start for the party. And no idea which direction you are supposed to go.
The ride is incredibly smooth. You don't even realize you have landed before signal to start party comes. Neat! Props for the pilot!
You open the container and step out into darkness, your zombies following you while drooling. Hmm, suprisingly green here, despite of the darkness. Stars provide enough like to realize you have landed on someone's field. The field is surrounded by few lines of planted trees, so you can make out a road going roughly in direction where you are supposed to go.
At this point you have already learned what you professor brains do. One is electronics engineer with very extensive knowledge about all kinds of electronic devices and can come up with juryrigged devices easily. Combined with your training you could easily build makeshift explosives with complicated triggers. Second brain is an architect. It can easily make complex calculations about stress and stuff. Fairly smart dude. You already know how to take the container apart with least effort. Third one is astrologist and has good knowledge about celestial bodies. Quite handy in this case actually. Staring stars half minute gives you information that the direction you should be going is north and the road you saw goes north east. It also tells you that you are somewhere between Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Northern Syria or Iraq, eastern Turkey or western Iran. Somewhere there.
Everything seems fine.
Your landing is a rough, and it kinda breaks one of the doors off giving you fairly good view where all helicopters are. Relatively good view anyway, since you were dropped in small intersection surrounded by poor two-story stone buildings packed incredibly tight. You spot one about 40° left of direction you are supposed to go and another on right, same angle and distance. Your psionic rangefinder tells they are exactly 370.22 meters away. A little against rules, but there's nothing you can do when enviroment is the one giving your advantages, right? And it would be stupid to not gather intelligence when such good opportunity is given.
So this itersection. One road goes to left, leading to area surrounded by trees. Another goes to right after curving a little. Third goes more along direction you are supposed to go, but like 20° more left. And if your binoculars aren't lying, it seems to intersect with much wider road.
The start signal comes.
The container lands rather nicely. An ok landing. You wonder if your competitors has as nice landing as you did. Hopefully not.
As soon as start signal comes you open the container and step out. You are in middle of dry patch of stamped sand between roads going left and right compared to your supposed direction of advance. The road behind you seems to go few hundred meters in both directions before intersecting with other roads. The road in front of you basically starts little form left and goes to right before ending into something that looks like a major road aligning your preferred direction.
Directly in front of you, on other side of the road, is a literal wall of two-story buildings. All made of pale stone or red bricks. You could jump on the roof top and proceed, but that most likely will make noise and gather attention. Twenty meters left is an actual wall, like a proper wall, two meters tall. Perhaps protecting inner yard of someone's house. And if you are not completely wrong, it seems there's two large and hot smoke pillars rising in your preferred direction.
Otherwise you appear to be alone at the moment.
