Well, the Ing were created by a phazon leviathan smashing into Aether. The Ing are a mix of Phazon and Aether's abundandy light energy in a corrupted, dark form. I think Phazon would have an... interesting effect on a portal.

Doubtful. At worst, it might teleport us to somewhere else.

Somewhere with a lot of phazon, probably.

Since we can go anywhere, let's go to the Ing Hive (Dark Sanctuary Fortress), specifically the room "Entrace Defense Hall". There, and only there, we can find Ing Larva with which to assimilate, or be assimilated by.

Also, let's bring our Pirate Friend. Dark Pirate Commandos are the result of the Ing possessing pirates, and they're freakin' awesome. They can even teleport.
