The Tetris Effect Thread.
« on: August 01, 2016, 08:17:50 am »

Basically, post your instances of the "Tetris Effect" here.

Here's a few of mine.

* I visualize people's speech/words in text boxes.
* Since most of my favorite games have guns in them, I've started to wonder about guns and am now kind of curious (although I've never touched one in my life).
* Assassin's Creed has me curious about spies, and sometimes I try to hide from people for a little bit.
* Fighting games and similar have me wondering about fighting.

Nothing super specific as fitting people together, but it's something.

When I was younger, I used to default to a certain thought pattern: "I can alway save and reload if things don't work out". I always realised I can't, but for some reason that thought came up quite often in real life situations :P

After playing plenty of XCOM, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and such, I've been much more organized to the point of trying to optimize everything around me. Oddly enough, it actually came really handy in some cases, especially with time management, and even coordinating a few things to the point of no longer needing to visually keep track of them, I basically just know.

EDIT:
↑ Maybe it's a form of Deja Vu?

Tetris itself for me back when I was in college, and my job stacking shelves. In both instances it came in the form of vague closed eye hallucinations when trying to sleep, especially when I had a fever. After spending a long time river fishing my brother reports seeing the movement of the water still for long after.
