>socialism reduces crime
ayy lmao
eastern europe, south america, very well known for safety

Reason USA has so much crime is:
  • America deals with child abuse poorly. Not talking about its acceptance of pedophiles, but just the treatment of victims in general. Many young abuse victims become violent offenders because they make poor life choices and never got proper treatment and teachings post abuse. So they're screwed from the get-go.
  • Drug addiction, America holds drug use to be the one of the highest signs of social status, it has whole cultures revolving around individual drugs. Drug addiction fucks people up mentally, physically and economically, a drug addict is pushed towards breaking the law in order to fuel their addiction. This is true for white and blue collar criminals
  • Alcohol, same as drugs, probably worse owing to higher availability
  • No mental health system sufficient for most Murricans means people with mental illnesses that could be treated do not get their treatment, and thus their only treatment available is with the criminal justice system, usually after they've committed a crime spurned on by their illness. Obviously this is fucked
  • Police are unwilling to put themselves at risk with aggressive tactics to shut down violent gang activity, human and drug trafficking, but are more likely to use aggressive tactics inappropriately on law abiding citizens. The last bit doesn't increase crime but it certainly lowers public support for police
  • Repeat offenders. For whatever reasons, loads of criminals leaving the justice system remain criminals after leaving the prison system. Even worse, some criminals leave the justice system as hardened criminals
Eastern Europe and South America are less developed countries than the USA and western Europe....

Reducing the entirety of economics and culture to supply v. demand.

yep - america liberalism.

"chop chop ppl with no marketable skills, off to the soylent factory with the rest of you! "

??? Are you seriously claiming that the American left has pushed for cannibalism? This is obvious slander. FAKE NEWS!!!
Clearly we were confused with DF elves :P

Though to be fair, the soylent green situation was obviously a parody of socialism.

I fucking hate the USSR for giving collectivism a bad name. Like, of fucking course authoritarian collectivism will be shitty, that's because it's authoritarian.

And the whole "optimize the collective at the expense of the individual" is not the inevitable result of collectivism. Hell, that sounds more like capitalism - social Darwinism, you know? The unsuccessful will die under bridges while the successful relax in condominiums. Capitalism selects against caring for one's fellow men! Collectivism will provide for the needs of everyone, and allow for each to develop and contribute as they see fit! And, and, and -

Jeez. Calm down, Doz, you can rouse the rabble later. :P

And then race straight to the bottom in a shitty slope that's inevitable from what we've seen in the real world on any large scale.

No miauw's right, that's being dismissive of a competitive industry!
Yeah people love weird things, but that doesn't mean it's an easy industry.

Then again, I can't think of any example of collectivism working. Except maybe in religious groups.

To be honest regular media often twist news so much that is it downright fake news as well.

And it is a way more dangerous form of fake news because there are hints of truth to it.

That's not "downright fake" news, it's biased. If it presents facts, it's not fake, regardless how it's spun.

Fake news is entirely fabricated, and has no truth to it.

Is Pizzagate a good example of fake news?
It could be used as the textbook example.

Is internet conspiracy theories really admissible as fake news?

The hippies actually did a pretty good job of it, despite literally being plotted against by the US government.

Like most other things it tends to work really well in small groups, yeah, but there are tons of examples of societies we would think of as collectivist, some of which were stable and prosperous for hundreds of years. Defining collectivism as a philosophy emphasizing in general the wellbeing of the community (be it the nation, the family, the village, whatever) over the individual rather than in the Marxist sense, because while on paper they look very similar the philosophy behind them is very different which produces a very different society in practice.
