To be honest regular media often twist news so much that is it downright fake news as well.

And it is a way more dangerous form of fake news because there are hints of truth to it.

That's not "downright fake" news, it's biased. If it presents facts, it's not fake, regardless how it's spun.

Fake news is entirely fabricated, and has no truth to it.

Is Pizzagate a good example of fake news?

It could be used as the textbook example.

I supose this is more-or less political:

Quote from: Some Random Dude on Quora
I think this is one of the things that people who advocate for a high minimum wage don’t “get” most of the time.

If I set a minimum wage of $15/hour, and the person works sufficiently to count as a “full time employee” and trigger full benefits, then the company that hires anyone needs to get $30/hour of benefit out of that person to break even.

Sadly, not everyone’s work product has that value. So when the minimum wage goes up to $15/hour, those people get a nickname: “unemployable”.

There’s a reason that the guy with the street sweeper that comes along once a week to clean out the trash from the 7–11 parking lot is getting the work, rather than a neighborhood kid: the value of the work units isn’t high enough to offer minimum wage.

Where does this "$15/hr means people need $30/hr of value" come from?

Assuming that benefits are roughly equal to wage.

I guess it's one of those issues where I could debate for ages, but I am just glad my country has a decent minimum wage.

Actually more generally I think the reason the US have so much more crime than most other developed countries is their adversity to anything labelled "socialism".

>socialism reduces crime
ayy lmao
eastern europe, south america, very well known for safety

Reason USA has so much crime is:
  • America deals with child abuse poorly. Not talking about its acceptance of pedophiles, but just the treatment of victims in general. Many young abuse victims become violent offenders because they make poor life choices and never got proper treatment and teachings post abuse. So they're screwed from the get-go.
  • Drug addiction, America holds drug use to be the one of the highest signs of social status, it has whole cultures revolving around individual drugs. Drug addiction fucks people up mentally, physically and economically, a drug addict is pushed towards breaking the law in order to fuel their addiction. This is true for white and blue collar criminals
  • Alcohol, same as drugs, probably worse owing to higher availability
  • No mental health system sufficient for most Murricans means people with mental illnesses that could be treated do not get their treatment, and thus their only treatment available is with the criminal justice system, usually after they've committed a crime spurned on by their illness. Obviously this is fucked
  • Police are unwilling to put themselves at risk with aggressive tactics to shut down violent gang activity, human and drug trafficking, but are more likely to use aggressive tactics inappropriately on law abiding citizens. The last bit doesn't increase crime but it certainly lowers public support for police
  • Repeat offenders. For whatever reasons, loads of criminals leaving the justice system remain criminals after leaving the prison system. Even worse, some criminals leave the justice system as hardened criminals

On the other hand, if society as a whole has a higher minimum wage, they can afford to buy more things, and thus businesses make more money, so they can pay their higher waged employees, so they can buy things. I know the classic argument to this is inflation, but that doesn't really seem to fit, for me. Obviously there'll be some, but pretty sure economic growth would outpace it, as usual.

Though moving all at once to 15 an hour would trigger a panic, which would be the real issue. If there was no panic, a few months of reduced profits (and obviously, businesses just eking by with no ability to take out a loan would probably go under) would be followed by normalization and growth, I suspect. Significant changes, obviously; business would push for automation harder than ever, I suspect. But really the solution of taxes on high-paid CEOs and people with metric shittons of holdings seems best. You don't need that much money, guys. I mean really now.

Although, keep in mind that bottomX% of people in terms of wealth includes people with millions of dollars in debt.

Those who spread fake news are worse than prostitutes.

I am completely fine with both of those things.

Also, now I am desperately hoping to hear that prostitutes have begun spreading fake news about Putin in direct response to this statement.

No, but seriously - the American "left" is better for the working class than the American right.
