But another chunk of it is that it just was poorly designed from the outset. It left the execution of it, in many places, in the hands of people who had no desire to see it succeed for starters. It's a crazy hybrid plan that simply wasn't meant to survive long past birth without significant amounts of life support which it isn't getting and shouldn't have expected to get.

It wasn't poorly designed.  They just had to pass an incomplete bill because Ted Kennedy died so the house had no choice but to pass the last version the Senate voted on without amendments or reconcilliation.  That was never, ever supposed to be a final draft of the bill.  This is why the language of the bill flatly contradicts itself at times, leading court cases including the big one that diluted the medicaid provisions.  They weren't even allowed to proofread the damn thing.

It's like commenting that someone's notes from class dont make for a very good term paper.

I apologize then, it wasn't poorly designed, it wasn't designed at all, they just grabbed whatever was on the table and put it into law without thought. What a wonderful idea. That explains everything.

And in a turn that may not surprise anyone, it's looking like the downballot destruction derby may be starting.

Interesting to see if this stuff's showing up elsewhere. I'm not actually watching the wapo website, but it seems some of the other folks I've been looking at definitely are.
A political Night of the Long Knives? Would be interesting if the Trumpeters manage to sink the electoral hopes of establishment Republicans across the board, leading to only pro-Trump Republicans holding national office. And a Democratic majority for them to rail against and blame everything on.

Honestly the leaks have made me think way better of Clinton. Having so many internal emails leaked and basically zero real scandals revealed from them kindof suggests she just isn't up to anything shady. Her main fault seems to be that she's overly secretive.

Dunno how anyone can say "Clinton doesn't talk about policy" with a straight face when several times at every appearance she makes, she plugs her website covered in the stuff: https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/
In the first debate, she literally pointed at that for more details enough times that Trump tried mocking her for it.

A political Night of the Long Knives?

As opposed to an apolitical one?

Yeah, an actual violent revolution would be not good. And that's pretty much the only way of uprooting the corruption effectively and quickly. You can still dream, though.

As opposed to one where Trump's supporters actually round up Paul Ryan et al. and shoot them.

Although the more apt analogy would be if Paul Ryan and Reince Priebus rounded up Trump and his camp. Röhm was taken out in part because he was a threat to Hitler, but also because he wanted to move more aggressively than Hitler did, which could have jeopardized the NSDAP's acceptance by German society.

Eh, given the horrific results no matter what the outcome would be... nah, I mean, the police and military probably won't stand around picking their noses when people start marching on the capital, most likely they wouldn't even be consistent in which way they went, and you wanna know what would be worse than a bunch of civilians trying to take on the US military?

The US military taking on the US military.

Nah, that falls in nightmare territory, and I'm an out-there socialist anarchist. You don't derail something with as much inertia as the US government without it grinding up a huge number of lives in the process for no real gain. At most you try to climb on top and steer it where you'd like it to go.

I think he means nonlegal. :p

In other news, what is probably the biggest thing in the Podesta e-mail link just emerged. Good risotto cooking tips. Becuase the illuminati wants you to spoil your risotto by dumping all the stock at once, but thanks to wikileaks, we're on the path to glorious risotto equality.

When do Trump and/or Clinton reveal themselves as immortal-worm-emperors?

Guess I was already part of the Risotto Illuminated, since I was already initiated in that mystery.

No, as in not illegal. Armokdamn English, mutter mutter.

Oh, you were making a joke? Yes. That is what the :P at the end implied. I am definitely a human being capable of noticing tone when it is spelled out for me.

I recall reciting the Litany Against Facts at some point in this thread or last?

I must avoid facts.
Facts are the hype-killer.
Facts are the little-truths that bring total understanding.
I won't face the facts.
I will permit them to pass around and avoid me.
And when they are gone I will turn the public eye to see my wig.
When the facts are gone there will be cheering. Only Trump will remain.
