Sanders booed by house Democrats
Berniebros btfo again

It's a two way street. Support begets support. Disdain begets disdain. Not really a good way to foster party unity. Once again just telling people to shut up and fall in line.

Sure yeah.   ::)

Clinton endorsed Obama in June and that race was actually a photo finish, unlike this one.  Sanders has never paid his dues, almost literally.  There are unpleasant tasks people do for parties.  Sanders never did them but he wants party members to do them for him.  It's not about politics, it's just straight up personal workplace drama.

Again, it goes both ways, the party showed very little support for Sander's (or O'Malley's for that matter) run. Pushing Hillary down everyone's throats from the start. Besides, it's not like Hillary is doing much for downballot runs either, given the huge majority who say it would hurt or not matter at all if she endorsed someone.

What exactly would he get out of it by "paying dues"? The party's done basically nothing for him. I don't see any problem with him not wanting to do anything for the party.

The Party let him run for his ticket, gave him more visibility than he ever had in 20 years as an independent.

Who said anything about Clinton?  I didn't.  And O'Malley is fine.  O'Malley has paid his party dues.

Being a politician means doing unpleasant things.  It means going out and stumping for other people.  It means sitting in a depressing little cubicle and cold calling strangers to beg them for money.  This is what I mean by "almost literally".  This is how parties get money beyond the superPAC process.  Bernie Sanders hasn't helped party fundraising.  Being a politician means working really hard to make legislation you care about and then negotiating away the things you really care about bit by bit.  Bernie Sanders has never put his name on an unpleasant compromise.

This isn't a matter of they didn't endorse Sanders.  They didn't endorse him for a lot of reasons.  This is that they dont LIKE him.  He is a freshly minted democrat who has never given anything to the democratic party but wants something from the democratic party.  That is a recipe for them personally not liking him.  Because on a personal level he is being a humongous asshole.  He wants to use the party but doesn't want to give them anything.  And that affects the people in that room personally.  That personally means that they have to put up with more unpleasant shit on the campaign trail.  The means they personally have to deal with a lower success rate in the cold calls and will spend more time in the cubicals.  They personally have to give up more unpleasant compromises.  He is acting like an asshole to them on a personal level so the people in that room dislike him on a personal level.

It's not politics, it's workplace drama.

It's a two way street. Support begets support. Disdain begets disdain. Not really a good way to foster party unity. Once again just telling people to shut up and fall in line.
Context seems important here tho
Quote
"The goal isn't to win elections, the goal is to transform America," Sanders said at one point, according to multiple lawmakers and aides in the room.

Some Democrats booed Sanders for that line, which plays better on the campaign trail than in front of a roomful of elected officials.

House Democrats overwhelmingly supported Hillary Clinton during the presidential primary fight, so it was not surprising that Sanders got a cool reception from them.

But frustration with Sanders was also evident. Rank-and-file House Democrats want Sanders to officially drop out of the race and throw his support behind the presumptive nominee, and they can't understand why he hasn't so far.

"It was frustrating because he's squandering the movement he built with a self-obsession that was totally on display," said a senior Democrat, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
Doesn't seem like they're telling him to shut up and get in line, they're telling him to speak up and make up his mind

Quote
Sanders complained about the "super delegate" process used during the primaries. "One person is starting with 900 delegates before anyone even votes," Sanders said. The Vermont socialist and his supporters have been upset about the issue for months.

But House Democrats didn't seem very impressed with the unapologetic Sanders, who didn't yield an inch despite the rough handling he received.
Yeah sure this is a valid enough concern, but them house democrats would rather be able to provide a unified democrat party to murrica than split their support between Bernie and Hillary only to give Trump victory

*EDIT
I suppose telling the people whose immediate concern is winning the election that it's not about winning the election is not going to be received well

H... have you forgotten bernie's political history, sluissa? Like. Do you really not see why someone that has been part of the democratic party of decades would get more support than someone that was openly antagonistic towards them until basically the start of the primaries? Who has walked into a presidential campaign attempt after having given more or less zero support to the democratic party beforehand? It's like a first-day intern demanding the CEO give them full financial support for their pet project.

I'm not quite sure what you're expecting, here, slui. It would beggar the mind if the democratic party had thrown substantial support behind bernie, especially considering the circumstances of his campaign. I like the guy but good gods, no, the democratic party is pretty close to entirely in the right how they've treated him. He's literally trying to leech off their name for more recognition, and that they're letting him do that much is probably more generous than they actually have any particular obligation to be.

And ninja'd, but eh.

Yeah, no. Sanders is getting booed because he's talking big about party unity and then doing absolutely nothing to work towards that. You want him to stop getting told to shut up? Then get him to stick to his word.

This whole e-mail thing reminds me of hearing about the Bureau du Chiffre, which is supposed to handle all official communication by encrypted diplomatic cables for the French foreign ministry, but is so slow that often the FM and ambassador will bypass it and just send a copy of their conversation through the Bureau pro forma, since sometime the fact that you might be hacked down the road is less of an issue than having your Foreign Minister learn of a crisis hours later.

Just think about how crazy Martin O'Malley must be watching Bernie Sanders slowly spiral the drain.  If Sanders hadn't run, O'Malley would have gotten the months of uncritical press adoration that went to the challenger to the boring Clinton campaign.  O'Malley's troubled record with race and policing wouldn't have mattered at all and he'd just be the smart governor who planned ahead and avoided savage layoffs for cops and teachers during the Great Recession.  Even though he would have probably lost, he would been smart enough not to piss off the democratic caucus.  He could be VP or secretary of State and run in 2024 if Clinton beat Trump.  If Trump beat Clinton, he could run in 2020.  By the time he ran again, all the problems about policing would be stories without legs because they didn't come up in the 2016 race.

Sorry, what was the point of the Kissenger thing?
Your argument was that Clinton was a good Secretary of State, therefore everything's copasetic. My point is that someone can be good at their job (and at that job specifically) and still be a terrible human being and unworthy of trust.

As it is, this is a terrible election no matter who wins. Think of it this way -- if Clinton wins, it's only because she had the great fortune to run against Donald Trump. If Trump wins, it's only because he had the great fortune to be running against Hillary Clinton. Most of America has higher regard for a ham sandwich.

Most of america isn't paying an ounce of goddamn attention to anything except the circus, really. The media shinies have happily directed all their attention from things that actually vaguely matter.

Speak of media shinies, though, Trump publicly praised Saddam Hussein... yesterday, I think? Or last tuesday. Again. I hadn't even noticed that he mocked people back in december that got pissed over hussein gassing civilians.

I'm starting to suspect a dead newt would be able to win the general election against this shit.
