Of them all I want to see the Farming skills opened up to adventure mode.  We can build our small towns or cabins now, it'd be nice to plant some crops.  Also just the animal taming alone would be spectacular, have a dwarf crossbowman ranger running around with a pack of wolves or a few bears or giant tigers

On the subject of animal taming Toady has discussed it before Its a subject of this DFtalk, calming animals down and such and bringing along animals that are hostile to goblins or quite loyal anyway.

But yeah, i guess farming roles in adventure mode would probably need some more input into the farming system (so that while it might be a nice place to build, the ground could be too marshy/wrong biome/infertile) to add complexity rather than plopping plants anywhere.

Random thoughts:

Being able to make "career changes" would be nice. A spinner becomes a soldier, etc.

A thing that would enrich professions, is being able to link some of them to civ specific positions. Could your typical adventurer become the sheriff of a hilllock?

I went with Farming, Crafting, and Merchant. It'd be cool to run your own little farming village somewhere with fertile soil. During the off hours you could explore and gather extra resources for making useful products, then trade them with the caravans.

A tavern keeper or a merchant.

Nice necro.

A tavern keeper or a merchant.

Nice necro.

I've spent hours browsing this forum and this is one of the most interesting topics I've found. The game needs those adv arcs badly.

Definitely a judge at first, and a blacksmith later. I wish DF became a fantasy life simulator.

My top 3 are,

1. Farmer - Stardew Valley

2. Soldier - Mount and Blade

3. Merchant - The Guild

After seeing the world gen stories Toady described about the spread of various religions, I think priest/preacher could be really fun.  Wander around, promoting your god and preaching their message, maybe intimidate a rival or two... maybe start a holy war or two, make your god number one by slaughtering some of the rival faiths...

I agree with this necro.

Tavern keeper seems the most reasonable, but all of these seem to require another dwarven economy. Which I'm all for, whenever it happens.

This is in the next release. Choose your religion at character creation, give sermons.

That's all you can do right now, but it's a good start!

Personally, I’d be all in favour of playing a travelling Lawyer, but Priest sounds too good.

I. Ruler - So you can actually own sites and subjects (You could leave a Steward home taking care of things and just check up on them from time to time)
II. Sailor - We need boats!
III. Lawman - Investigating and punishing criminals!
