I've produced quills as a DF and then came to the fort in adv mode, managed to pick them up, but still I have no option to right anything. I do have the ability to both read and write and it seems that it should be possible. How can I do it, does it work differently in Masterwork?

Do you mean quills or quires? Quires are what you need, at least in vanilla. It would be a bit difficult to write a whole book on just a feather.

Well, when I was playing, in adventure mode you could make quires and similar via the x menu.

The point is I already have a quire and still have no option for writing.

I think you need to compose your work first, like in poetry. Then you might get the option to write it down and/or recite it to someone.

I only have options to compose poetry and musical compositions. Already did that and still no option.

Could someone please give me DFHack commands to spawn writing materials? Tried but seems they are invalid.
