Thunderbird permanently paralyzed my soldiers?
« on: May 31, 2016, 10:06:34 pm »

I fought a megabeast that had the ability to "cast lightning" or something to that effect, and my two soldiers have just been lying in the hospital beds for about a year, unable to do anything. They were diagnosed and nothing further. I went to check their wounds or to see what the diagnosis was, and there was nothing there. Are they paralyzed forever? Is it something else? I don't see nerve damage or any wound at all in dwarf therapist, just "cannot stand, vision lost, unconscious".

Is your diagnoser competent? Do you have a chief medic? Are all the medical professions assigned to someone? Did you check the "Dirty Cheater - Show Wound Details" option in therapist? by default it only shows wounds that have been diagnosed.

I do indeed have a chief medic, and his diagnostic is "Accomplished". I enabled the dirty cheater option and checked just now, and there are still no wounds displayed.

Well, I am no modder, able to interpret raws at a glance, but the thunderbird has a special syndrome it can inflict, and just wildly guessing from the numbers, it looks like a pretty extremem paralysis effect. However, your dwarf should be dead since it appears to also stun the heart/lungs and such. It has an end value of 5600 and a stretch of 72, so perhaps those might give you a clue on how long it lasts?

I guess I'll just keep him around, not like it's costing me much. Really really weird that he didn't die if it paralyzes the heart and lungs. Maybe it bugged?

It has random effects that are intended to simulate a real lightning strike.  Total paralysis is a possibility.
