Perrson returns to find his men still waiting behind their sandbag emplacements. The sergeant takes his place along the sandbags and scans the landscape with binoculars.

The 2nd Infantry Squad remains in their defensive positions.

Perrson returns to find his men still waiting behind their sandbag emplacements. The sergeant takes his place along the sandbags and scans the landscape with binoculars.

The 2nd Infantry Squad remains in their defensive positions.

Soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Squad crouch behind the sandbag emplacements, as they point their weapons -and eyes- north, waiting for the enemy to enter their vision.

3rd Infantry Squad holds its position in the bunker.

The 3rd Infantry Squad -consisting of patriotic, young adult volunteers- sits within their bunker, weapons ready, awaiting the chance to shoot at Norwegian invaders. While eager, these men have never experienced any warfare besides the stories told to them by relatives in the Great War. The men make small talk as they scan the horizon, joking about which of them will get the most kills.

Enemy Moves...

Engines can be heard faintly...

As we stood in the bunker waiting for the enemy to come we heard the faint sound of engines, the sound of a machine made for war.

"Norrie's coming boys! Ready your guns!"

"Sergeant, you see any cars yet?" Olofsson asks as he readies his anti-tank rifle.

"Not yet David." Perrson says still watching for the distant attackers. "Stay ready men."

PTW, and to ask aggravating questions.

Coleslaw, are there going to be machinegun positions, smoke rounds, or mortars added in? I can see them being interesting, tactics wise, plus things that where assigned to platoons.

Oh, and is the third infantry team available? Ill take them if they are.

The young lieutenant peers down the road, listening to the sound of roaring engines, and turns to the gun's loader.

"Load armor piercing. Aim down the road."

Questions are more than welcome and not at all aggravating. Ask away!

MG positions? Hmm.. I was thinking LMG operators in the squad would cover that, but if you're talking, like, HMGs.. I'll consider it. Not quite sure how to make it any better than the way LMGs work now, but I'll take a moment to think about it.

I considered smoke rounds as well. However, I thought they'd be of limited use or be difficult to implement them to where they'd be useful enough for people to actually bother using. I dunno. Again, I'll consider it.

Controllable mortar teams will be included in a later battle. I didn't want to throw too many squad types into too large a battle too quickly for fear of overwhelming everyone, including me. As well, I'm currently experimenting with using Hexographer and GIMP together so that Hexographer provides me with the maps and GIMP provides me with units that Hexographer doesn't have, ie an AT gun, and I wanted to take those slowly so I didn't run into any problems with too many custom unit textures making my head swim. :P

Oh, and is the third infantry team available? Ill take them if they are.

Yes, they are! I'll go ahead and stick your name under them in Hexographer. Turn will be up in a bit everyone!

Looking up historical gubbins, a Swedish platoon was 75 men, consisting of a platoon HQ, attached mortar section, four 12 man infantry units, an AT squad and a MMG squad... Ouch. Norwegian platoons, meanwhile, had a grand total of 46 people in them, but nowhere near asmuch support. Hell, it looks like a standard Norwegian infantry squad had no hope of dealing with a tank, nor any integrated indirect fire...

Interesting to know, though this game is likely not going to be sticking to much historical realism.

Stuff on Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish and Danish infantry platoons

Also, I just noticed the year of the game. Whoops. So those mortars dont exist, nor do the SMGs(which I think where also Sweden's first attempt at developing one), and a older form of that LMG is whats around, along with a differing MMG... Hell, almost the whole TOE is different. Crap.

The armored cars drove into vew accompanied by ground soldiers, they where all out in the open, a grave mistake.

"Here they are, FIRE!"
Everyone but Elias Ohly fire on the north west squad, if there are no more targets and there are still people who can shoot fire on the next closest squad, Elias will fire on the Armored car with his AT rifle.

Oscar, the newly minted Corporal incharge of this squad of boys, watched the advancing enemy through one of the firing ports in the bunker.
"They shouldent see us yet, and if they do they cant do much of anything. Hold your fire until they get closer. Störje, get ready to put hits in any armored car the AT boys miss.

Holdfire until the enemy moves to within 2 tiles, then fire.
