Well, it would explain why our characters don't remember a damn thing before Fairfield; because they didn't exist before Fairfield. They're probably just clones of the deceased heroes raised up to be servants for the bad guys through the idyllic fantasy of Fairfield. Of course, being heroes, we break free and rail against tyranny, injustice and so forth, etc.

Alternative theory: This is actually a Dark Souls game and we're all Undead, the only reason we don't remember anything is the Darksign doing its thing and the reason nobody dies in comic books is that we're resurrected by the Darksign.

I had to go though my backstory like 5 times to try to take out all the fairfields and replace them with farfields. I still doubt I got them all.
