I cannot decide on the starter. I've narrowed it down to:

Mudkip, Oshawott, Tepig, Fenniken, Flabebe, or Litwick. Any opinions?

Well... not to sound like a tool, but I do liek mudkips.

Mudkips are indeed awesome. Main reason I suggested the other options (to which I added Roggenrola) is because I wanted my character to be from either Unova or Kalos.

Or, crazy idea, they're from the region the Pokémon is from and bringing it with them on their move to Hoenn.

Also, ATH, can I just say I heavily recommend against playing someone who doesn't talk? That's not the sort of thing that allows much RP. And "Professor's kid" is the kind of thing you should ask the GM about.

He doesn't like it.

Name: Ren
Age: 16
Description: A rather tall (6'4'', even), blue-haired guy with a seemingly subdued personality and a preference for dark clothing. Underneath that, however, is a man with two facets; the slightly neurotic housekeeper who knows how to keep house, cook and clean things and worries about his mother every so often, and the fiery duelist when he gets into an actual duel.

Backstory: A former Kanto native who moved to Unova, before setting off to Hoenn to seek his fortunes as a Pokemon Trainer; or rather, his mother pushed him out to seek his fortunes despite his protests, pointing out that he's old enough to be heading out. His mother sent him off with a friend, Kendra, in order to make sure he didn't get into trouble. Of course, being who she is, Ren is more convinced that she'll be in trouble without him.

Along with him comes his partner and first Pokemon Sora, a Starly, with a small ribbon pinned underneath its face and its curl a little more ruffled up than other Starlys. He and Ren have been regular show-ups in Contests as well as local duels, and have built up a partnership; Ren feeds, trains with and shows off the rather boisterous Sora, and Sora acts as Ren's errand bird, fetching letters, Berries and things for him and chasing off wild Pokemon dumb enough to attempt to attack him.

If you start with an Unova 'mon, I could link backstories with you, but otherwise, either Mudkip because buff Mega-Swampert4lyfe or Litwick because adorable.
