That's a pretty great graphic.

Additionally, going against Israel is the popular way to go against the American-centric First World, because Israel really isn't part of it despite its using America as a bulwark.

If you compare the number of arabs / muslims killed and imprisoned both by religious extremism and by the state in Israel versus in arab countries, living in Israeli-controlled territory doesn't nescessarily sound like such a really bad thing.

That is, if you don't go about shooting missiles over the fence or pack your truck full of explosives, because then you're screwed and your family is screwed.
In response to a recent attack, where 2 Palestinians started emptying their clip in the streets, killing 4 civilians, Israel revoked the work permits of over 200 relatives of the 2 perpetrators. I agree that's somewhat harsh and unjust, although it's not any different from what a Belgian Swiss airport recently did by firing all arab employees after learning of a terrorism-related security breach, but not knowing exactly who.
But at least those relatives aren't incarcerated, whipped, hanged, decapitated or their bodies crushed by passing cars, which is apparently quite normal in parts of the arab world surrounding Israel.

The next day Israel decided to temporarily revoke the travel visa of 83 thousand Palestinians. The (Saudi) UN Human Rights Chief was apparently trying to be diplomatic, since he has stated somewhat weakly "It is a possible breach of international law regarding collective punishment."

Got a source for that? I'm pretty sure I would have heard of it.

oh- I guess you mean the airport thing. Trying to find it, but it's quite old news. I think it was not long after the Paris attacks. I'll keep searching a bit more see if I can find it for you.

Found it. Oops sorry, it wasn't Belgium, it was Switzerland - funny, I had more luck with my newspaper's internal search engine than with Google

it has been pointed out to me that the article is in fact from a satirical site and therefore not actually true. Colour me embarrassed!! However it reads exactly as John Key would speak, so it fooled me.

Sheb, your recent posts here surprise me. Has Berlin made you a proper German after all?

What? No. I still think Israel's a dick, just not as much of a dick as the UN's number of resolution condemning it would make it appears.

Vilanat: I fail to see what the US's SC seat and veto has achieved in this case.

Actually, I might. I guess five years of Syrian war makes it harder and harder to get worked up at the Israeli human right violations. And it's been almost two years since Protective Edge, I'm sure I'll find some viagra for my hate boner the next time a few thousands Palestinians civilians dies.

Sheb: Probably nothing, since it wasn't a critical issue, but it points at an obvious problem here, one that has far reaching implications than just treatment of LGBT NGOs.
