It's pretty much a place to shitpost.

But overall you are probably late to the party since twitter is in massive decline thanks to Feminist frequency and bots that post content for you (so you can generate a follower base by pretty much reposting shit other people posted).

i have the same problem. i have no idea how twitter works unless you are a celebrity.

why should i tweet tons of stuff if i have no followers to read it?
why should i write stuff that nobody will read?
why should i follow people if im not even interested in them?
why doesnt people who are not interested in me follow me either?

anyway maybe we all can post our twitter names here so at least bay12 people can follow each other and it makes *some* sense at least.

Well you can start by watching B12 to get DF related tweets on your feed.

Still note how many dead accounts are out there. B12 is watched by Over 9000 people but the average B12 tweet does not even get 100 likes and gets even less reposts

Twitter and similar social media in general is an idea that evolved from the more basic, work-intensive bulletin board systems and adapted it to mobile systems to enable participation by casual users. It became popular, and was subsequently hijacked by marketing companies as an additional method of reaching audiences outside of their traditional dated media outlets. Since then, it's devolved into a hotbed of automated circular reposting robots with little original content. There's genuine reasons to use them, for example to gain real-time updates from emergency services and weather reports, but overall I can't say I'm attracted to personally subscribe or invest my time into throwing words into a black hole of wasted effort.

Well, yes, because it's not designed for those things. But for the things I use it for, like catching breaking news, updates on projects from artists, and so on, it's great.

Whether Twitter sucks or not depends heavily on what you want out of it.

eh twitter isn't a social network, is social news.

you don't bring friends there, you follow stuff you care about. sure ppl go there and post whatever it's on their mind, but that generally doesn't work. Instagram is better for discovery and Facebook is better if you bring your own network on it.

I used to use Google Reader for RSS feeds to manage my relevant content suggestions. Since they shut it down, I've switched to The Old Reader, an RSS feeder specifically designed to copy Google Reader back in its heyday. RSS is enough to manage my interests without needing additional input, especially since my time is limited and I don't want a constant information dump. I already deal with enough email and work related alerts as it is.
