bag storage
« on: April 25, 2016, 02:38:32 pm »

I made a heck of a lot of dimple and emerald dye, which required hundreds of bags, which is how I trained my clothier. Awesome. Slowly but surely, cloth is getting dyed and empty bags are filling my "furniture" pile.

But hold up, if all these dye bags were stored in barrels before, then why can't the empty bags go in a barrel or bin?

Can't they go in bins?

I've never seen bags in a bin, but that might just be because the furniture stockpile doesn't use bins by default.  This idea makes tons of sense, though.

I don't think furniture fits in bins.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

A bag full of dye is no longer furniture?

Yeah. A bag itself is furniture (not crafts, as I previously thought), so it probably can't go in bins. It depends on whether bin-storage is reliant on size or item type. (I'm guessing chairs can't go in bins, but what about really tiny chairs?)

But a bag with something inside - well, the bag is ignored then. Or it should be. There are quite a few bugs regarding this distinction.

A bagged powder will be stored as the powder, not as the bag. So they can fit inside barrels, because that's what powders can do.

Powders were never intended to be stored directly in barrels the 42.01 release, but they were because of a bug.
