The thief, (and he seems to be just a kid), runs through some crowds, cuts through a few alleys, and runs through some more crowds.  You have a hard time pushing through the people, but you manage to stay close enough to keep the kid in sight.  Eventually, you see the kid's starting to get tired, and you start gaining.  You're just a few seconds behind when he passes through a small noodle shop, front to back.

As you emerge from the back, you are hit from behind and see stars for a moment, falling to your knees as you cling to consciousness.

Your vision steadies, and you get back up.  Apparently the kid isn't as smart as he is lucky, as he's still there, rock in hand, and neither tried for another blow nor ran away.  You put on a fierce face and draw your sword, asking the kid to put the money down.

The kid sneers at you, but drops the purse and keeps running.  You pick it up, and feel the lump on your head.  Blood.  Damn.

With that, you return the money.  Or try to.  Behind you, in the alley, there was a large fisted thug, and it's obvious what he wants..

You draw your sword and face the thug.  He backs down.

With that, you take the purse and return to the scene of the crime, where you return the purse to the onlooker.  He looks pretty suprised and thanks you for it.  Some of the other observers applaud.

(Gained 1 prestige)

You could get used to this hero thing.

I would much rather obtain map of the land and look out for rumors of strange occurances in far lands. Perhapas that lets us to narrow down the area our target resides. As in mark location of rumor origin into the map and the area with largest concentration is probably worth of attention. This will obviously take more than one week.

Hmm.  Actually, contacting that new harbormaster might be a better idea.  We might be able to get a better job as a guard or something, and as I've said before, mapmaking isn't very time sensitive.  Though, it might be better to wait for prestige to spread a bit, if this game doesn't have it as a magical immediate spread.
