I have played DF a lot in past years and I've found both game and community really informative and interesting!
I'm also a hobbyist game developer and I'm doing a little game research in field of 4x games and card games, I'd like to have some feedback from you, it requires only 5 minutes:

I dont play many 4x games, but I distinctly remember one particular game having some card system for diplomacy.

Thanks, I remember something too but not as 4x but as rts game.. you will not build structures or unit, but call reinforcements using cards,  do you remember the name?
