Hey Urists,

I've written (a very early version of) a program that uses AI to write stories about dwarves, as part my AI-bachelor graduation project.
It's heavily inspired by Dwarf Fortress, although not nearly as complex.

I'm currently looking for a few more respondents to answer a few questions about the stories it generates. If you could help me out and provide some feedback that will really help me to improve the program!

Note that the generator actually produces some much more interesting stories, but for academic purposes I can't "cherry pick" or fix any of the bugs once I have moved to review phase, so these are actual stories as generated without any human intervention, including typo's and incorrect sentences.

Here's an example of one of the many "bugs" that are still in the generator, but which I actually find pretty hilarious.

Galal: 'I'm more of a mushroom person. A well baked mushroom with some stonesalt? yes please!'
Ginin: 'Do you think the war with the Goblins will go on much longer?'
Galal: 'I'm not sure you could even call it a war. They're more like bandits or raiders then a proper army.'
Ginin: 'Well, I need to go now. Goodbye.'
Galal: 'Goodbye, Ginin'
I stay silent while I slit my own throat, and collapse.

Is urinating all over rooms just a thing dwarves will do, or is Rola just an asshole? (That is, did you intentionally add that sentence into the code, or were the individual parts of it generated by the ai?)

Haha, I added a few different "insults" for the dwarves, and gave each a certain rating in terms of "martial", "spiritual", "practical", "corrupt", "silly", etc. I think this particular one was chosen due to low spirituality and high sillyness.

What I'd suggest is taking some of the details out. I mean like this snippet for example:

I travelled from my family's family hall to my family's hall entrance

I start talking to miner Punal Mithrilguard.

Dureg: 'I'll drink or eat anything I can get my hands on, I'm starving.'

The details about meeting his sister or other non-important plot devices should be removed.
You can also remove some parts of the conversation. I think the questions about the war has potential, but it seems to be hanging here. Questions like "I like mead do you like mead" doesn't add much to the story.

I agree, but you have to understand that I did not write these stories, my program did. The difficulty is not in generating line of text, the real difficulty is writing a function that decides what (and how) to narrate. Writing such a function is pretty meta, because while I'm programming it I don't actually know anything about the story it's going to generate.
