Able to bury an invader?
« on: April 04, 2016, 12:01:49 pm »

If we wish to have a "Hall of Enemies" to revel in our victories over invaders (etc) is there a way to bury/entomb invaders like werecreatures or any other non-dwarfs?

No, they went to Hel, where they lead a bleak existence in cold and darkness. Valhalla is reserved for valiant warriors.

Well, dumping them in a hole then flooring over, maybe putting a memorial slab on top.

Indeed, but actual tombs are reserved for dwarves and pets. I _think_ that dwarven invaders are buried, actually. Solution: mod all invaders to be dwarves?

The best you can get is a Hall of Enemies with a slab for each enemy. (I originally thought you wanted to bury them alive [but not in a coffin], which can be achieved).
I think non dwarven citizens are entombed as well, nowadays, by the way.

Cask of Amontillado, dwarf-style.

Not that I've ever done that unintentionally or anything.

If you can cage the enemy, or knock them out over a cage, you can then seal the cage off in a room forever and designate a slab nearby.

But can you inscribe a slab for them if they are live?

Of course not. None of us have.

Is this biome reanimating? I really don't want to know what happens when "absurd numbers of megabeasts" is combined with "reanimating biomes".

You can memorialize them with slabs. But only after they're dead.

Though...could you use the custom statue thing to make statues of them?

Can't impale a dead enemy on a stake yet, but you can make a statue of an enemy impaled on a stake (screaming, burning, etc). Almost as good.

Well, on one fort I had I made an elaborate trap with cage traps and raising bridges (I dug out a rectangular room, and built the raising bridges so when they raised they would wall off all of the room except one square at either north or south, alternating, so enemies would have to come and go through all the cage traps, and when they lowered the cages could be recovered without my dwarfs having to take the super long way) to capture everything that could be caged (bronze colossi, giants, cyclops, goblin invaders...) and a set of "cages" (square 11x11 rooms) with hallways and raising bridges that would leave whatever I wanted (a werebeast, a certain titan...) trapped inside. the plan was to drop whatever I captured with the cage traps into the rooms with the titans and other nasties, and have my engravers record it all.

Never got a chance to test it because a goblin siege AND a dragon attacked at roughly the same time, and in the crossfire the dragon burned down a wood wall/bridge and... well, I'm never making anything out of wood again.
