A truly DIVINE instrument...(spoilers)
« on: February 24, 2016, 12:26:28 am »

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So apparently elves can sell you things made of the tears of angels and the sticky emissions of forgotten beasts. I have made it my goal to buy every such thing I find from the elven caravan.

This thing is worth 24k dwarfbucks, by the way.

Heavy Cloth is a Divine Material. Elves shouldn't have it.

I was lazy and didn't check on the elven caravan almost until it was ready to leave;  they have such a small amount of very cheap goods, usually only buy the animals, food, trinkets and bow/arrows. But this time they had a 58k+ dwarfbuck instrument made of divine cloth, forgotten beast leather, hill titan leather, and more divine cloth strings.

I now always check the caravans early.

I'm still waiting for the day that they bring me a divine metal instrument that can be smelted into bars

It's terrifying that that's a grown object. Elves have apparently gone about binding angels and are carving divine materials off them

what do you mean? they are already useful

strip them naked and give your militia training swords and armor, then enjoy the live training exercise

already got an army? no problem!

throw the elf into a pit with some gobbos and enjoy watching the elf get killed by your reigning champion of the death areina

I too have purchased items made from divine metals from elves. They ran in the 10k's of bucks. IIRC they were instruments.

I too have purchased items made from divine metals from elves.

Those were probably divine fabrics, not metals (which also conveniently explains why they aren't meltable).

Oh man! Intentional or not I actually really enjoy this idea to kinda give elves an equipment edge. Since 9/10ths of the crap they grow is recycled crap, this is actually one that can make quite an impression :)

Yup, it certainly gives elves an edge. The next time a group of elven bards lays siege to my fort, armed with bagpipes made from divine fabric, I'll be quakin' in ma boots!

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

Historically the bagpipers were at the rear of the invading force... running toward the enemy being less terrifying than running toward that music :)

Lol I said I enjoy the IDEA of them having this divine equipment edge, I'm not saying the particular example the OP listed is good for sieges! As in, I wish this material availability in which the elves have can be expanded on to the point where they can use said materials more frequently in combat...In non bagpipe form.
