Beginners FEF

     Welcome to Beginners FEF, a game meant as an introduction for players new to the FEF series of forum games. In comparison to a normal FEF, Beginner’s FEF is built to be much shorter than the usual campaign, taking place over the course of a mere five chapters.

     FEF, standing for Fire Emblem on Forums, is as the name implies, a forum game built off the mechanics and themes of Nintendo’s Fire Emblem tactical RPG series. As such, it features several hallmarks of the franchise, including the concepts of character development and interpersonal bonds having effects in battle, the class system, and of course permadeath (Though a less harsh version due to the nature of the game).
   
     It is currently planned for there to be 8 player characters in the party in total. To help guide the newer players, a system similar to Haspen’s old NEF series shall be used in Beginners FEF. Along with the 6 newcomers in the main player list, there shall be two slots reserved for veteran FEF players who will help guide and advise the newcomers as they progress through the game. However, it is asked that the veteran players please abstain from planning out the entire parties moves for them, unless an emergency situation arises to necessitate it.

The party will be starting as a group of mercenaries hired to escort a merchant across the country of Napelli, so applicants should keep that in mind while writing their character bio.

Gameplay Changes
Death: When a party member’s HP reaches zero, the character will become unable to act and a counter timer will appear. At that point, their allies will have three turns to heal them before they expire. Being healed will restore the character back to the battlefield and reset the timer.
Inventory: Instead of having a character’s inventory capacity determined by their CON stat, each character instead has 5 inventory slots to carry what they will in.
Effective Damage: is x3 weapon mt used in damage.
EXP: EXP is shared by the party in a pool. Performing grants 2 EXP.
Gold: Gold is shared by the party in a pool.
Crits: Critical Rolls are separate from the Hit Roll.
Looting Enemies: Items that can be stolen by the steal command are marked as [STEAL]. Items dropped upon enemy death into the killer’s inventory are marked as [DROP]
Poison: Poison deals 1-5 DMG and can reduce HP to 0.
Sleep: Sleeping units always wake up when hit.

Provoke
Stillness

Modified Character Skills

Miracle: if the character takes lethal damage and this skill activates the character is left at 1 HP. Can't activate at 1 HP.
Blossom: Gives a third preferred stat. Levels are granted to have a minimum of three +1 stats

Class Changes
First Tier Classes
Archers: Sidearm removed.
Bandit: Kotm is removed.
Fencer: Indoor Combat removed. Replaced with
   Pillar Dodging: Receives no movement penalty from moving onto pillars.
Mage: Effect of Nature Spririts changed to “Add your Strength stat to your Constitution.”
Pegasus Rider: Magic Sink changed to +3 DMG/RES vs people with Levitation
Scavenger: Power of the Underdog removed.
Shaman:  Ancient Resolve changed to invest CON into MAG, and the user may choose how much of their CON they wish to invest.
Soldier:  Spear Wall removed. Replaced with
   Anti-Calvalry: Gains a +5 Total Damage and +1 Defence bonus against mounted units.
Thief: Overdeveloped Sense of Self Preservation changed to:
   Grants Canto after picking a lock or successful steal.
Troubadour: Minor Arcana effects halved.
Wyvern Rider: Loses weakness to wind.

Second Tier Classes (Just in case)
Assassin: Assassinate roll target equal to crit change, but caps at 40%.
Battle Mage: Vaulting over enemy units part of Jump removed. Imbue Arrow uses stats of weaker weapon and targets lower of DEF or RES.
Berserker: Berserker Barrage removed.
Bishop: Santuary removed.
Druid: Call Magic removed. Replaced with:
   Memory Magic
Duke Knight: Hot Start removed.
General: Half Luck bonus removed from Great Shield.
Great Knight: Momentum removed.
Holy Guard: Aura of Vitality removed.
Lore Master: Cannot have the skill Center. Must swap skills if a character that has it promotes to it. Call Magic replaced with:
   Memory Magic
Mountain Warrior: Critical Eye removed. Mountain Fighting changed to no mov penalty when moving to Hills and reduced mov penalty by 2 when moving to Mountains. Giant Swing ratio rebalanced to 5 hit per 1 DMG.
Nomad Healer: Vulnerary has a cost of 100 Gold, and Elixir has a cost of 1500 Gold.
Nomad Ranger: Untouchable removed.
Paladin: Holy Shield removed.
Sage: Call Magic replaced with:
   Memory Magic
Sentinel: Retaliation removed.
Swashbuckler: Grog Soaked Blade removed.
Swordmaster: Faster Than The Eye removed.
Valkyrie: Anti Magic removed.
Wyvern Hunter: Half Luck and +2 damage removed from Pierce.
Wyvern Knight: Defense bonus of Dragon Heart reduced to +3.

As it is currently the most popularly used version of the rules, Beginner’s FEF shall be primarily using an adjusted version of the Fire Emblem: The Further Journeys Handbook version 1.3 which can be downloaded from the link above.

Characters are to be created as described within the player’s handbook, with a 335% progression total and 4 extra stat points to be distributed upon creation. Again, please check the rule changes listed further up above in this post before creating your character.
Leave the Affinity section of the character sheet blank, as you will be given a choice from a randomly chosen pair once your character has been accepted into the game.

Please note that in this game characters will be starting from First Tier Classes, as opposed to Trainee Classes.

Mugs

When playing FEF, its common practice to have a set of mugs or “mugshots” to represent your character. While not truly necessary to play the game, the mug sets can aid in expressiveness and are considered to a large part of the fun of FEF. These mugs typically take the form of edited and spliced together versions of Fire Emblem character portraits made using image editing software. More specifically from the Gameboy Advanced entries of the Fire Emblem series.

If you consider yourself artistically unskilled or are unfamiliar with working with sprites and pixel arts, don’t be afraid. There are many people in the FEF community who are very happy to offer advice or help in making mugs for other players. If you need help, just post a request in this OOC thread or in the FEF Hub Thread.
   
As a last note, please don’t use somebody else’s spritework in your mug without gaining their permission in some way beforehand. Tis rude and will get people very angry at you if you do.



Character List

Character sheets shall be accepted based on level of experience and quality of the submitted sheet, along with the need to create a balanced party. Outside of the veteran slots, generally players with zero or very little FEF experience will be given priority over those who haven’t.
The term Veteran as referred to here isn't very stictly defined, but a nice rule of thumb would be someone who has played through and completed at least three FEF chapters in the same campaign depending on participation level. Someone who once entered an FEF that died out after a chapter or two is not considered a veteran for the purposes of this game, so please don’t feel discouraged.

Bio:
 
Jezzail is a Dragon Cultist from Revice. Born to a moderately wealthy family, she was taught the magic arts as she grew up. While she had no talent for staves of any kind, she had a small affinity for light magic. On her eighteenth birthday, her father was killed by a burglar, who stole multiple precious tomes.
 
Filled with righteous anger, Jezzial pursued the trail of the burglar, and eventually tracked down and slew him - but the tomes were gone, and her father was still dead. Now aimless, she drifted between mercenary jobs until she arrived at her current employment.

Scavenge  Gold   Passive Effect The  first  time  a  Scavenger  lands  an attack  on an enemy  target,  they  steal  a  sum  of gold,  equal  to 100 from  First  Tier  enemies, and 200 from  Promoted enemies.  A  Scavenger can  only  steal  from  a  particular enemy  once  per battle,  but  can  potentially  steal  from  every  deployed enemy  on the  field.
 Bio:"Sprook" is a16 year old newly fatherless boy who had his Father brutally murdered by bandits and most of  his possesions and belongings burned and he barely managed to escape into the wilderness carrying only  his fathers used Flux tome and a vulneary his father having been a powerfull shaman by the name Leo Brook The Brillant and his mother was Sarah Steelforge The shining Troubadour.
But even Leos brilliance and determination strong as it was he could not survive the sheer number of them and was slain and his wife  captured.
"Sprook" and his family have always had to scavenge to survive
.Now he has to do it all himself he has .Joined the mercenary group to become strong enough to avenge his father and save his mother.

.As it stands sparrow dosent really know what he can do or even if he stands a chance he's terrified and to be honest Wants to run in terror.
but he loves them so much his mother and father always having been there for him teaching him dark magic and how to use a blade even with all the hardship he has had to endure he has never felt more despair then now and will accept any and all help he can get to save his mother and Avenge his father.
His mother is kind intelligent and Stubborn and willfull her horse is a fairly average horse but she has been known to have a penchant for expensive things.
