With enough mana, we should feesibly be able to do this to the entire thing. We might find something more useful this way, but it will be easier to just run the iron for impurities first. Still, storage. In anyway possible.

Use mana sight to attempt to look inside the chambers in the small tunnel systems with the barriers blocking normal sight.
Attempt to increase the range of manasight by pumping more mana into it to see if you can observe other bodies or not.

Study and attempt to reproduce the suppression system.

Your first task is to attempt to recreate the crystals you've found within you, but after numerous tests with attempts to inject or tear mana from within some of the crystals you discover that the crystals are only really capable of receiving and storing mana. The act of retrieving mana from within the crystals seems to cause them to turn to dust as the force of mana escaping it causes the crystal to be torn apart from the inside out. However, you're fairly sure that the crystals being destroyed after mana is withdrawn is in large part due to your inability to perform the level of fine control needed to keep the fragile material intact.

With your experiments on the crystals complete you use your manasight to take a second look at the obscured chambers inside of the tunnel system you had sealed off, and the end result is you find yourself incapable to see through whatever is blocking your vision into the chambers. Even in spite of this you do manage to gleam something from two of the chambers, the first all you can feel is two very very weak mana sources inside belonging to two separate things though you don't feel any sentience from them like the entity locked away elsewhere, and the second chamber seems to be filled with countless mana sources.

The ability to Store/Retrieve Mana was learned.

Create a crystal scout (flying, rolling, whatever) possibly using some iron as well. Task it with exploring the areas you cannot see, and report back. Being infused with mana should be fuel enough.

Determine the remainder of asteroid composition (heavy metals, silicon?)

Attempt to sense the surrounding mana at a long distance. Experiment with using mana pulses like sonar. See if mana can bounce.

Store some mana in one of the crystals, and break it to see what happens.

Experiments begin are turning some of the crystals underground into some kind of scout to investigate things that you yourself cannot see. The progress itself goes very poorly as you spend sometime adapting the methods you know to manipulate rock for the more fragile crystals which in the end turns out to be fairly easy as the main method for shaping the crystals is covering them in a field of your mana then slowly fusing other crystals into an appropriate vessel. Of course the real problem lies in giving the vessel its actual purpose as you have no basis to create something that can move and perceive separately from you leading to several crystal vessels turning to dust as your vague guesses overtax what the material can withstand.

After that you spend the time to double check the what your planetary body is actually composed off aside from the view deposits of materials you discovered, and after a quick check you are sure most of your body is made of plain stone though there are a few places that seem to contain some metal known as lead. When your perception touches these deposits that you previously missed all the mana you had imbued into your manasight seems to scatter completely.

In an attempt to test your perception you reach out from your planetary body to see how far away you can sense mana from yourself, and come out with the result that the mana becomes far to sparse for your perception to continue about a mile above your surface. From this test you discover that your perception relies on the presence of mana to sense what is around it, and that the void surrounding you does not contain enough mana in it to support your perception. Chances are that sending mana out into the cosmos for your perception to move across would allow you to sense things farther from your planetary body, but the sheer amount of mana required to support it over any meaningful distance is something you can't support in your fledgling state.

One final test you perform is to form a line of mana before sending it towards your planetary surface in the hopes of revealing whether mana can bounce, or not though the outcome is something you did not suspect. While some of the mana does in fact bounce back away from your surface the more important result of your action is a several feet long gash on your surface caused by the seemingly mundane mana line that shattered most of the rock in its way. As you watch bits of rock flying out into the void from the mana lash you sense a sudden drain from your mana pool causing you to realize that your unfamiliarity with this method lost you a lot of mana as attempting to retain control of the mana used for the lash cost far more than simply releasing your hold on it.

Crystal Melding learned.
Your first attack 'spell' was learned, Mana Lash.

Begin experimenting to discover more complex arrays. Preferably, see if we can either directly increase or amplify our mana creation abilities. If we can't, begin testing whatever we happen to think of in hopes of discovering new possibilities.

why dont we try to make a larger mana array; as in scale up, on an unused section of space, the one we know already to take up 16 space and see if that makes any diffrence in mana output?

All these secret 'things' inside us don't seem to really belong. See if there is any indication of how they might have come to be there.

It was pretty obviously the sage.

Study mana gathering arrays.
