Am I the only one not entirely surprised if it's real? There was some work back in 2011 that suggested that the solar system originally had 5 gas/ice giants, one of which was ejected in order to form the current orbits of the remaining 4 (apparently, when simulating the formation of the solar system, a system with 4 giants to start with does not end up looking like ours). The paper.

There was another paper in 2010 about how the spacing of objects in the Oort cloud isn't how it should be, but can be explained by a 5th giant planet in the fringes of the Oort cloud. The paper. Unfortunately, data from the WISE telescope seems to have ruled this specific one out, NASA reporting that there is no possibility of a Saturn-sized object out to 10,000 AU, nor Jupiter-sized objects out to 26,000 AU (The giant predicted by the paper being up to 4 times the mass of Jupiter). This paper is also very good reason to be skeptical of the current 'Planet Nine' article (Published Here).

Someone* said it was real. They didn't provide a citation, so I couldn't dismiss it as just another re-reporting of the same old news which didn't prove anything. :V

It's more "We haven't proved it doesn't work yet, but there's no good model for why it would" territory. All the experiments have other possible sources for the measured thrust, but getting a good enough measure is looking super-expensive - and that means that, even if it works, I wouldn't expect a practical system for decades, at least, given how low the forces we're talking about are. And that's me trying to account for technology advancing faster than I can really anticipate.
