((d6 is the best die to use in most situations. I just like d20 because DnD uses d20's.))

(Whenever you partake in an act that you are good at, you gain a Free pick. Whenever you perform an act that's narratedly rather epically, you gain a new die, if you chose to combine two and lost 2 dice.)
(Also, you may pick a die for any actions you've chosen, since I didn't format the dice list yet. And what would be your weapons of choice for this mission? I'd recommend something stealthy for Morion, but in general, I'll take ideas in a case by case basis. Or I could use the random weaon generator on Seventh Sanctum, if you desire.)

The guards take notice of the odder individuals coming from the plane. The Meritocraticon promptly holds out his hand, causing them to back down.

((Um, is there any sense in doing something but picking the highest rolls? Typically everyone wants their action to succeed...))

Morph into Pearl
Let it be four
((I feel obliged to remind that I have a bonus for that biz, as was stated earlier:))
Morion: As you practice the Black Pearl form, it begins to feel more natural.(+1 to Black Pearl rolls)

As per weapon of choice, mine is sort of a concealed carry. I materialize/dematerialize an axe at will.

Dismantle computer for parts. Use parts and miscellanous other items to assemble small remote activated electrical discharge pack(s). Investigate sand for small creatures willing to give their lives to idly performed science.

"How are we for weapons? Reckon there's anything interesting here except for the mine?"

In that case, this. I must say that as far as I can see the system requires either metagaming or abstracting the our character's (and thus, generally, our) drive to succeed at our objectives. But its definitely worth trying it for a bit.

Use a five then. I can be useless later.

You have 5 free picks per mission, which you use on your desired action, and lose said free pick, unless you do something to regain it. Actions are still your regular action, you just get to pick the dice.

(I'll use the system for this mission, at least. Try to make it work, and see about general feelings when we get done.)

So, um, one pick from 10 pre-rolled dice per action? I don't get it. Like, at all.

If you choose not to pick a dice, the die on the furthest left is chosen. Or you can choose one of the 10 dice on the list, and lose a free pick, which could've been used for something else.

That's an odd system, I haven't played anything like that so far, but alright.
Then I'm not picking anything this turn, my leftmost dice is 4, which is good enough.

Just learned of it yesterday. Michio is running a game called Mechanics Test using the system.

I'm not trying to offend you here, but running a game on a system you learned about yesterday is not a very sound idea.

((The 'system' is a method of choosing dice, not a whole proper system.  It's a RTD, just sometimes you get to pick dice.))
