Hey, when I signed up for this gig, I thought The Strip means Las Vegas style resorts casinos taverns--you know, buffet style food court, bottomless beer gardens, gambling dens, skimpy cladded bearded-babes!

Instead, I see hobos, day laborers, and a couple of security crews allergic to the Vegas sun.

The gold bars can be quite impressive when put to use.  So maybe a Ceasar's Sanctume's Palace type can be erected.  But that's not as grand.

What this place needs is an Oasis!  Yeah, I wonder how long it will take to pump up the water from below and fill our outdoor resort pools and water slides falls.

If we can flatten out/dig out a large area, we can build a golden pyramid and use it as a research and development area tavern for the elves!

Man, I haven't been to Vegas for a long time.  Anyway, pyramid = The Luxor hotel casino.

So a pyramind, atop the volcano tube?

What kind of tavern did jaccarmac make, actually?

Actually, rereading the turn, he mostly seems to have designated mining and commented about how doomed everyone is while the dwarves experimented with passive resistance techniques in response to his orders.

Pretty solid. We do actually have at least one tavern, though, right? The Magma one?

There looks to be at least 1 tavern below, and about 20 temples, at least I think they are temples based on their names.

I did not look too closely as I want the buffet established.  We lack chicken for the chicken wings though.

Find some chickens or see if you can trade for them. The caravans have all sorts of hard to find stuff/stuff we don't have.

None, sadly. I was planning on a multi-level cube on the west side of the volcano with magma waterfalls, but for some reason couldn't get mining to happen at all. Even after disabling all labors. I'd love to know what I did wrong, since I didn't have time to investigate with the pickle my time management skills put us in.

The Strip - Chapter 2: Mossices

Spring 107

With the workers sated, time will tell when we will have abundance of food and booze for the strip.

The manager's office building looks unsafe so its log walls are gutted out, including the "sky" bridges on the second floor.

The farm ceilings became the flooring for the obsidian building, and we start to build up from here.

On the 10th of Granite, an elven caravan from Totoiki arrives and we use this time to move all rags to the trade depot.  We have so much rags that we only needed to trade half for all the worthwhile items the elves brought.

Mid-Spring
The Forgotten Beast Mothi Nomaracmot has come! A huge eagle composed of Crystal Glass.  It has large mandibles and it squirms and fidgets.  Beware it’s webs!

I was worried for some time because my initial security assessment cited the stairs have vulnerable areas that are exposed to the caverns below.

Upon further study, these stairs are sealed off from the rest of the strip by constructed floors.

Summer

Summer arrives and the obsidian building's 3rd floor construction is underway.

Perhaps an evil omen shows itself because on the 11th of Hematite, Lorbam Duradbed, a Farmer has been possessed!  He crafted an obsidian coffin.

On the 27th of Hematite, we have a grand opening for "Mossices", our first tavern on the strip.  Mossices showcases ample room for dancing and performances, a buffet and bottomless beer garden.  The second floor has rooms open to citizens and visitors alike with a more private dinning area.  The third floor houses the penthouse suites for our high roller members.  Our chefs also feature masterful strawberry roasts!

On the 10th of Galena, the old manager's building has been retrofitted with obsidian walls.  Two decent offices were created for the manager and record keeper, and the remaining floor space is dedicated to "The Learning of Stumps" library that is open to the public. Scholar Inod has been appointed as our first scholar to administer the library.  The second and third floor are apartments for the manager, record keeper, scholars, scribes, and other workers.

Early Autumn
I worry that we lack chickens to breed because how can we have a beer garden without serving chicken wings?  I review the animals and found out Zefon has a pair of breeding turkeys!  I contracted with Zefon to house his pets in an exclusive golden nest boxes!  I was correct in my assumptions, the turkey hen laid its first clutch of fertilized eggs.  In time, these will do in lieu of chicken wings.

I am keeping an eye out for the goose hen, another pet of Zefon, to lay fertilized eggs if we ever obtain a gander.

Speaking of the deviled-eggs, a dwarven caravan from Atis Sedil has arrived.  The liaison met with the mayor Goden.  I managed to request, "bring metals!"

With half the rags left over in the trade depot, and about 26 barrels of prepared food, we got everything useful from the merchants, including 14 steel anvils to be melted for armor.

Small tip: Crossbow bolts, when split into stacks of one, can be melted for more metal than used to create them. It's a pretty round-about system though.

forging coins and melting immediately gives a 50% profit, while coin stacks split into one get 500% profit. Really time consuming to split, tho.

Edit: maybe 5000%?
