Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You bark instructions as the dull metallic sound of the half hour buzzer stirs the rest of your team out of bed. Martinez rolls out of her bed onto her feet, quickly strolling to the locker and pulling out her jumpsuit, back to her old self it seems.
It's quiet in the halls as the eight of you pass the protein dispenser, grabbing the crumbly bar that serves as your breakfast every day. Another miner team passes you, and flashes wicked smiles, excitement in their eyes. You pull out your flimsy metal badge, pinning it to your chest, and your team mirrors you.
As you get close to the administrative sector, Paul jogs to catch up. "So what's the plan?" He asks, breathing heavily from nerves, "What do we do?"

What could pre-industrial societies do, run a bunch of cattle off a cliff? Boo fucking hoo I'll be crying for them while I just dump these litres of acidic chemicals into this river. Scrubs.

According to the paper, you'll be met by two more teams in the admin district. It just says as soon as you're ready, no specific time, and no pre-meeting place.

Also the fact that we have life-sign readings is...worrisome.  Shit's gonna get SS13 up in here.

A few seconds of fiddling seems to disconnect you from the overall network. It looks like you act as a tower, forwarding the data from your own suit to the mainframes, and downloading any data from other suits. Turning that functionality off shouldn't have any adverse effects, as long as you stay fairly close to your team, range is limited.

A glance back at your team reveals steely eyes and strong stances. You close your eyes for a second, steeling yourself. Then forward you go, leading your little troop of protesters. As you walk into the central hub of the administration district, all white and polish everywhere, you're surprised by the noise. There's two groups formed already, a crowd of probably two mining teams standing their ground, screaming into the faces of the security figures clad in black right up next to them. There's a lot of tension already, it seems, only a few minutes in. You and your group join, quickly battling to the front lines. "Disperse!" is the order shouted through plastic facemasks towards you, but the lines stand firm. There's probably 10 or 11 security members, and almost 3 times that in miners. No weapons are drawn, but you can feel dangerous energy in the air. A miner pulls you aside, yelling into your ear to be heard over the chant of  "Victory to the Miners!" that has started.

"They were here when we got here, waiting. Something's off, it's weird, man." He scans the security forces "They aren't letting us through to the admin offices, where we could cause a real mess. There's another two teams of ours on the other side of the offices, but I heard they're getting blocked as well. I'm thinking about getting a little group together to sneak by through maintenance, you in?"

You scan your team, Martinez is face to facemask with a security guard, silent, her eyes deadly. Paul is screaming something at the guards, who scream back just as loudly. The rest are following along, already caught up in things.

We gotta get Martinez off the front lines, grab her and tell her about the sneaking mission.  Apart from her, just bring the nearest member of our team and get ready to follow the miner ( who's name we should probably ask )

You start towards Martinez, but before you can reach her, she moves.

She moves like fucking lightning, and before the security guard can react he's on his back, and she's on top of him. Suddenly three of the guards grab her, and you hear the terrifying shhhclunk noise of extendable batons. Oh, shit. She is jerked to her feet by the three guards, and the one on the ground scrabbles backwards as the room erupts with shouting. Suddenly, one of the guards lets go of her, flicks his own baton open, and swings. As hard as he can. There is a horrible crunching noise as the baton impacts across her face and jaw, and a spray of blood spatters you and the stunned miners around you. The room goes silent as Martinez crumples in the hands of the two guards on either side of her. They throw her back towards you, and she falls. It's as if the world goes into slow motion for a second, miners and security staring at each other, one side shocked and the other prepared. The calm before the storm. What do you do?

This can't be forgiven, but we are not prepared. Grab her, have one of ours who has a patch kit care for her, and continue with the sneak mission through maintenance.

Can we get a ratio of miners to guards in the room?

29 conscious miners, 11 guards

This can't be forgiven, but we are not prepared. Grab her, have one of ours who has a patch kit care for her, and continue with the sneak mission through maintenance.
The room erupts around you. Paul lets out an earsplitting scream and charges for the guard who hit Martinez, and is quickly followed by the rest of the miners. Screams and shouts begin as miners and guards clash, some guards are buried under a wash of bodies and the remaining few lash out, batons impacting with horrible thumping noises.

You scramble forwards, grabbing Martinez by an arm, and pulling her back from the fight. You briefly entertain the idea of trying to patch her up, but it seems like there's not much to patch. Blood is running freely from her nose and mouth, and her jaw looks broken, but there's no cut skin.

As you rescue Martinez, the guards shout something, and fall back to the doorway. They slam the doors, and a second later you hear the clunk of the airlocks going down, no way through there now. The two scuffles still remaining quickly calm down as Paul, his face covered in blood and a baton in his hand, steps back from a guard who is now lying unconscious on the floor, his faceplate shattered and blood slowly dripping onto the ground by his head. The other settles as the crowd steps back to reveal a guard being pinned by four heavy miners, his eyes quick and scared. They quickly grab a zip tie from his belt and fasten his hands.

You glance around the room, taking stock of the situation.

26 conscious miners, beaten and bloody.
4 unconscious miners.
1 guard, conscious, ziptied.
1 guard, unconscious.

Whoever's uninjured, tend to the wounded. Meet with the other two team leaders and begin to interrogate the captive. First question, how did they know about our strike?
