==Durmokh Dumrhysson==

Finish scraping the goop off. Is it reacting, or did it react noticeably with me?

Sorry about that.

((Hmm... if if the soapy goo didn't react with our skin, we may have found a way of dealing with the spill. It would make more of a mess, but it would probably be easier to clean up afterwards than the horribly corrosive goo.))
The greenish brown goop (the unmodified stuff) stings and discolors your fingers. You haven't come into contact with large amounts yet, but you feel like you shouldn't leave this stuff on yourself for long. the pink slime tingles and seems to settle into your skin a little. You can't tell what, if anything, it does. the black slime doesn't seem to do anything.

I've done my job as cat herder simply by getting tentacles to BubbleCon, I go back towards the shoreline and begin the search for the wayward shapeshifting kid.
((part of why I'm a cat right now is for the sense of smell by the way, I'm no bloodhound, but it's still a huge upgrade and can be used for tracking.))
You head to the shore, and find some tracks that look like the metal squares that Reggie's feet were when he wandered off. Unfortunately, they head into town and you lose them on the hader packed earth. You never do pick up a scent from Reggie though., and are having trouble trackign any of the team via smell due to the overpowering smell of the sludge. It's not strong enough out here to bother you, but it get's in your nose and kinda lingers. You do track the snake, which seems to have come back to the shore for some reason. The same guy is staring at the roof of a delightfully smelling little shop, and you glance up, seeing the snake woman on top, spread out like a drying coat.

hmmmm I'll swing my head towards each path 10 times and wherever my head is pointing at the end I'll go.
Reggy randomly chooses one of the paths

You head down one of the paths. A short while later, you come to another similar split. the right side leads into what looks like a slightly more overgrown part of the woods., with the trees along the sides reaching their branches over it to form a sort of tunnel,  and the other winds away, looking like it rises up a bit as it passes around a bend.

Keep hold of alchemist, snap fingers in front of him to get his attention and say the below

"Alchemist, pay attention. This one and his scaly organic companion have hauled you out of the sludge. This one and his organic companion were sent to clean up said goop. This one is probably not wrong in saying that the goop is your fault, organic, so tell this one everything you know about it so that we can clean it up."

the man's gaze sharpens. the look of fear does not leave his face, but he starts talking. "it wasn't supposed to happen. I'm not sure, but it looks like the solvent leaked through the tank and spilled onto the tar. It ate the entire store room. all my ingredients, ruined! I .. I haven't had time to analyze it properly, but it eats wood and flesh, and seems indifferent to fire and ice. Oh, you can freeze chunks of it, but they melt back into the same stuff. Birds keep dropping into it, too. I think I saw a rat swiming in there. It looked ... I was going in after specimens when the sludge started pulling me under.

...

Why is the air full of bubbles? An Elevation mechanism! Brilliant! I just need a framework like Colluds Cnstruction or Mefeezles Molding ..." the man begins to ramble about constructing something, or alchemating something, or something.

Ssslavina ssuddenly realises that sshe doesn't really have to deal with thisss crap.
She glances at clunkers. "Looksss like you've got thiss covered. laterssss."
Before hastily ssslithering away.

Go find a nice roof to ssssunbathe in until someone with actual authority (AKA not a PC) tellss me to do otherwise.
You slither away from the remnants of the team and find a roof over a small fish cookery overlooking the little lake, and leap up there. It smells nice, like cooking fish. A man on the shore stares at you blankly for some time, his hand idly reaching for something nearby, and a bucket of fish guts strewn across the ground a dozen feet away.

=="Terrence", team II==

Nope. No I do not.

Instead, explore the village a bit. Is it mostly just houses, or is there anything interesting around?

What might interest a terrapode? It's a quaint village with a few minor shops and a marketplace. there is a small industrial center off in it's own little quarter with a smithy covered in goo, an alchemist's lab, covered in goo, a tannery covered in goo and a leaning silo covered in goo. there's a lake one could almost describe as pretty, if not for the swampy smell and coating of scum around the edges, and a minor little stream trickling through the village. there's even a permanent little footbridge over the stream at one point. You find three shrines also.

Give the guy a few shakes to get his attention, then say below

"Focus, organic. You send for our help, so surely you must know of a way to clean up this mess. Out with it."

welp, time to do this the slow way.
Circle the town, checking for signs of Reggie's passage leaving or entering. If I find his tracks, follow them. If I complete the circle and I haven't found sign of him, then I begin another lap, slightly farther in, spiraling inwards until I've seen sign of him or looked everywhere I can safely go while continuing my dedicated avoidance of the toxic goop and its lethal fumes.

Ssslavina gazes at the sky, which is [sunny] [cloudy] (pick relevant).
"Nissse day.

If I happen to have any money, go down and see about purchasing a fish. Otherwise, Loiter.
Have I seen any non-humans in this town?

You idly sketch some tic tac toe games into the dirt, while half the team wanders around and the other half attempts to figure out how to clean this mess. You pop a few bubbles. They make sounds when you do. Mostly little "ploink!" sounds, but a couple of larger ones make "bloop!" Sounds, and one goes "Fweeeeeeeee!" and skitters around in the air as it deflates.

Give the guy a few shakes to get his attention, then say below

"Focus, organic. You send for our help, so surely you must know of a way to clean up this mess. Out with it."
"S-salt? Maybe an aclhemic ritual of Cleansing would do. B-but, we'll need a lot of salt. Could just haul it away I suppose, if it doesn't eat through the carts. And the shovels. Probably shouldn't dump it in the lake though. That might be bad. We could try Exhemer's Dividing to split the constituent parts out. We'd need a lot of copper, some kind of catalyst, and some quicksilver. Properly used, we shouldn't need more than a pint or two of quicksilver. Which I happen to have in my lab. I am reasonably confident that it is still there. the container it is in is quite durable."

No luck. Either he isn't in town, has gone inside someone's home, or has transformed into a rock or something.

You have no money. It's hard to say what the alchemist was, under all that protective gear. You did see a halfling or two though.

You climb for about fifteen minutes through a winding path, and come out at the edge of a gully. It looks like a quarry of some kind. The gully looks to have been widened, and there is a bowl shaped indent in the ground, where lots of rock and dirt and something carved out. there are minecarts, shovels, rails, and a few other things down in the pit, with a wide track winding up out of sight, before presumeably joining with the path you are on, somewhere to the right of you. Still no teammates though.

I did not miss it. Reggie has been in the woods for at least two turns now. Unless you knew what to look for and where to look, you would have been pretty lucky to spot his little hoofprints. While you were heading to the shore to get whoever was missing, reggie was already heading out. then you had to escort Terrance back. By then, Reggie was gone. You now have IC knowledge that there are three well trodden paths out of the village though, one each direction around the lake, and one straight away from the lake. I didn't think of adding that in the post though.

((But I do know exactly what to look for - I was following his little hoofprints when I lost track of where they had gone in the first place... and although I don't know *exactly* where to look, I did specify a search pattern that would cover the area I OOC know he passed and any paths - like the one he followed - would be areas to spend extra time on because they're traffic areas. His distinctive tracks would stand out in a heartbeat unless they were covered up by something else passing behind him. If despite looking for exactly what was there where it was I missed it, then I should have come to the conclusion that I missed him in town and would be checking inside the town multiple times, eventually focusing on evesdropping on people to listen for comments about whatever antics Reggie had gotten into while nobody was watching him.

again, I kinda figured searching an area that large would take several turns in order to do it right.))

Visit the alchemist's lab. First see if there's anybody home, but if there isn't, sneak in anyway.

Okay, hmm. Going a little slower, let's see. I assume you wanted to start at the shore where you last saw him? You see the same hoofprints there that lead in toward town and none coming back this way along the shore. making a lap around the town requires either going along the shore and then around coutnerclockwise, or going clockwise around town and then back along the shore:

              <--------^                          ^ -------->
               |           |                           |             |
               v           |                           |             |
    start X  -------->                  or      X <--------V
            ~~~~~~~~                         ~~~~~~~~~
the shore has buildings along it, though there is a stretch between the buildings and the actual edge of the water, but there are a couple overturned boats there and weeds and stuff.
Which way will you go? Each edge will be a turn.
