Semipopular doesn't automatically default to anime. Also, anime doesn't automatically mean "let's wing it". At least I don't think it does. Though that would explain a lot.

So basically, the fate of almost every other non-RP game on these forums? Yeah that happens, and it can get pretty depressing looking at the notes that were never used.
How about this? JRPG-esque fantasy setting. Aftermath of a war. Play as a bunch of normal people trying to return to their daily lives after the war amidst civil unrest, rogue soldiers, and rampaging monsters.

Yeah. I had the whole system made for it, too. If I had time nowadays, I'd totally run it again, but with less of a restriction of Servants to allow fictional characters (not from legends, from more contemporary media) to be used.

What about a Harvest Moon-esque setting? This is just because I've been playing Stardew Valley for the last 3 hours and it's really fun, and I think it'd be a good setting, what with the potential variety of characters, and things to do.

I don't mean normal by IRL standards. I mean normal by JRPG standards. So people can be war veterans, adventurers, people on the run for whatever reason, etc. So less politics, more violence.

Me too. Probably has something to do with trying to keep everyone more or less alive, or whatever.

Probably because duty of care exists and no one really has much reason to attack a high school. I mean, it's not like an army is going to charge in, magical death penii blazing while screaming "FUCK PRIVATE EDUCATION!", not plausibly at any rate.

A battle-scarred town in the aftermath of a war wherein bandits and monsters are both valid concerns? That's more plausible.

You know this could become intensely intresting if at a certain point this game seems to be dying out activate a fun little game begin killing off teachers left and right lock everyone in the school down and force us with all our shipping and ourfriendship to murder eachother glory fame love recognition dreams family any and all methods for murder as our dear player characters lose their minds and the real fun begins and the slaughter of the pcs begin also if we want we can keep the npc students around but basically go all dangan ronpa after a certain point and it would be extremely interesting.
