Approved races are: human, elf, dwarf, munchkin (halfling), Awakened Animal, pixie, sprite, dryad, naiad, goblin, orc, troll, lizardman, gnome, zombie, construct (Golem or the like) and a few I don't remember. Additional races must be approved by the gm. Some players have already claimed additional races, but unless it's on this list, you must get permission to play them.
At character generation, determine your pluses and minuses acording to this little formula:
((I'm officially simplifying the chargen rule just a little.))
add up all the positives._Add up all the negatives.
If the positives are_____the negatives should be
0..................................0
1..................................1
2..................................2
3..................................4
4..................................7
No stat can start above +2 or below -2.
Speed is movement speed. 0 is average speed for your race, which may be different than another race.
Intelligence is how fast you learn or how well you reason through problems.
Memory is how much info you can store and recall, and how well you can do so. important for some magics, and for reading and generally knowing where the trouble spots are and whether or not to step into that bubbling ooze.
Will is personal strength of mind and "presence" and charisma is likeability and ability to get others to do your thing.
Skills operate the same way, mechanics wise. you can only draw points for skills from other skills and for stats from other stats. Unarmed combat includes use of natural weapons. Magic is how well you operate your chosen magic school. Skill mastery is how many
skillsspecializations you are proficient in. if you have a +1 to sharp weapons, and take Long Sword as a
skillspecialization, you will be able to apply that +1 to long swords. Without the skill mastery, the +1 simply gives you beginner's talent, so you will probably not stab yourself. A 0 in skill mastery gives you three
skillspecialization slots. +1 is 4, +2 is 5, -1 is 2 slots, and -2 is no slots. this is fine if you are a big dumb brute, as hitting things with your big dumb fists is certainly a way to play!
//This line is overridden by the simplification I made above.
For calculating skills and stats: "Use the official ER stats and skills calculator for figuring out what spread of penalties and bonuses you can get." - thanks syvarris
A description is helpful, especially if you have an unusual race.
How you joined: For crimes against the Kingdom, Sold into slavery, to escape a troubled life, or "I'm weird. I chose this willingly." List known crimes, who sold you, what troubles you fled from, or why you chose this life.
a background is optional.
