Raiding the tower
« on: December 07, 2015, 04:07:21 pm »

The undead are literally the fucking children of Hercules. And oh god the fucking zombie bears please not the fucking zombie bears!

All I want to do is learn the secrets of life and death, but the zombies are so fucking hard that not even a demigod can stand a chance.

Become a vampire by either
A:Killing one and drinking the blood
or
B:50%Chance (Other 50% is lycanthropy) by pressing u to topple a statue in a temple.

The zombies are passive to you when you do that.

Also the point is that in exchange for immortality and gaining the ability to become untouchable with 1000+Body guards you have to get past them in some way before you can do that.

Oh I already know about that. The problem is raiding the tower without becoming a were creature or vampire.

In good ol' 34.11, I can get some fame and grab 10 other soldiers to assault the tower with some hopes of winning because zombies were actually killable at the time. But ever since DF2014 they've been buffed up a lot

Get some companions. Tell them to wait. Get more. Tell them to wait.

Eventually, I think you can get them all to follow you, iirc. And thus lead an army against dark forces. Unsure though.

Check out legends mode, you might find that books containing the secret have been stored in other places.

I saw one that said it had been stored in a library, though I never actually found it.  There were books littered all over that fort, especially in the forges, so I guess it might have been anywhere if someone had borrowed it.

The only way I was able to do a tower raid without first vamping up, was to lure the zombies out and then sprint in while the tower was more empty.  There were still a few inside, but I was able to dodge past them and get to the slab.

...Too bad your undead minions are automatically hostile to the living.  Would be great to be a traveling troupe of undead dancers.

Grab 20 soldiers by dancing at them.

you dont need to dance, you can still become just as famous as in 34.11

people need to remember that even if people say "it was inevitable" you still get the fame.

You can still get fame but you're still a killer for killing that titan everybody hated.

Yeah, but you can only get a few companions, especially if you don't have a high Social Awareness stat.

Dancing, however, can get you dozens of skilled meatshields weaponusers performers.

I once ran in circles around the tower to lure the zombies out, ran in, took the book and ran out.
