Elves brought trading good worth 530000
« on: December 07, 2015, 12:23:30 pm »

The elves showed up with a musical instrument.  I didn't save a screenshot, but it was stupidly expensive.  When I examined it, it was made of flashing cloth.  How did the elves get that?  Is world gen in the new version filled with more !!FUN!! than usual?

I've had elves bring some kind of strings worth 9000 and thought that was a lot...

I've seen instrument parts made of divine materials, like molten liquid.

Problem was it was for an instrument my fort couldn't build, so it just sat around.

Well I guess it's not out of the question matrials can be distributed now in worldgen.
It makes sense someone could go snatch something and take it home.

no, it must be a bug.

Kobolds snatch from vaults all the time, but you'll never get plain cloth or thread that way.  Only finished clothing or weapons.

Unless you can disassemble clothing into cloth?   I don't think that is a feature, but I'm surprised by things all the time...

Are these vanilla or modded raws?

I set most dwarf skills at a natural of 16, did the speed mod, and turned off aquifers.  None of that should have given elves any flashing cloth.

Maybe if there is a vault in an area they control,  it makes divine material available to the civ?

I do remember some problem with worldhen civs crafting with divine materials.   It was either on the dev updates a while back, or on FOTF.

Maybe put this on the bug tracker.  It sounds unintentional.

Just as long as you didn't duplicate any raws. It's the other cause of flashing materials, IIRC.

I got that too. The elves brought a piano-type instrument with strings made of some strange material.
